To go on my Weld-Craft 1652 Sportsman. I'm redoing the entire boat, wiring, lighting, hardware, instruments and paint. I hope to have it done by the time the water warms up in a few months. I sold the Johnson 50HP that was on it to a kid to put on his tracker, he loves it. I still have to choose a stainless prop for it, any ideas? New engine is rated at up to 6,300 RPM. Thinking a 16" pitch. Gearbox final is 2:27. Old Johnson 2-stroke ran 5,700 RPM @ 32MPH with a 3:42 gear and 17" pitch stainless SST prop. Boat is 17'-9" total length, 16'-3" long hull with 18" transom pods, 550 lbs dry weight, 2 group 31 batteries, trollin motor, 12 gal gas tank, Me and my DW with gear add around 500lbs. Any prop guru's here?

No, your new motor isn't rated at 6300 rpm. Your new motor makes its rated horsepower at 6300 RPM. Prop to get 6300 rpm at WOT loaded  or you will lug the motor and you'll never actually make rated HP.

Your wrong, engine makes 60HP @ 5,300 RPM. Engine operating range is 5,300-6,300RPM.

As said prop it so you hit the top end of the rev limit.

Go to thehulltruth.com and ask.  Ken from prop gods frequents the forum there.

Are you wanting a utility type prop or something more high performance?

I have some prop catalogs at work, let me see what I can dig up tomorrow.

Was hoping you would respond KB. Looking for MPG for cruising the rivers in my area. A couple MPH off the WOT that benefits the 4,250-4,750 efficiency at cruise speed would be the best. I only run WOT for a few moments to check engine performance at the end of the day. The '03 50HP Johnson I just sold looked and ran great but drank a lot of gas. Around 3 hours @ 22MPH @ 4,250RPM cruise on a tank that's only 4.5-5 MPG. Hope to double that with the new Zuke and get over a 100 mile range.

What year is the motor? Looks like 1998-2009 are one style hub and 2010 and newer are another.

Brand new 2020 DF60A. Think this new design 40,50 and 60 HP debuted in '17. The DF60 model before '17 was a much heavier detuned 70HP. New zuke weighs 229lbs, old Johnson I sold went 194. I think the lower on the zuke is 3.25" dia with a 13 spline shaft.

Thanks.

From my research you are kind of limited on pitch unless your motor

can use a 13 inch plus diameter prop. Michigan Wheel offers the Apollo

series props with an interchangeable hub.

Apollo B Series
3-Blade Stainless Steel Propellers for V4 Outboard Engines.
Available 3-Blade Sizes:
993143 (RH) - 13-3/8" x 15"
993153 (LH) - 13-3/8" x 15"
993144 (RH) - 13-1/4" x 17"
993054 (LH) - 13-1/4" x 17"
993145 (RH) - 13-1/8" x 19"
993155 (LH) - 13-1/8" x 19"
993146 (RH) - 13" x 21"
993156 (LH) - 13" x 21"

I know it says V4 engines but if you can swing the diameters listed, here are your choices from MW.

Solas also offers some props in their Saturn line you may want to look at.

The DF60AV with the big high thrust gearcase for pushing toons uses the 13" props, the props for the DF60A with the regular gearcase uses a 11.75" max. I guess I'll call the prop guru. Just for grins I tried a OMC 19" pitch SST 13 spline small gearcase I have laying around from the old 50HP. Not even close, it just spun on the smaller zuke prop shaft. lol.

Thanks!

I ordered a 3 blade 15" pitch general purpose stainless powertech. Their prop Guru said that would give the best cruise efficiency. It's kinda roundy and old timey lookin compared to the high speed OMC SST's I ran on my last couple of rigs.
