I'm looking at picking up a couple more buckets of food. Are there any current deals going on? Preferably not Amazon.

I know they aren't the best, but I do like them for the low maintenance and convenience.

I’ve had good luck with instant mashed potatoes from Walmart. Like 60-80 cents a pack, freeze dried, individually packaged. Plus we eat them anyway.

Then some rice on Mylar. I can fill a Home Depot bucket for like $25 all said and done

Long term? Rice and beans. Rotate spam or canned meat.

Definitely this. And pack your pantry with canned goods that you actually eat and can rotate.

Do you vaccum seal them, or how do you store them?

Large mylar bags with o2 absorbers, in 5 gal buckets. Will easily last 15-20 years.

You'd be hard pressed to walk thru a sam's club, costco, or GFS store and not find affordable bulk quantities of food you already know you like to eat. Buy what you can afford, then stock up on beans, rice, flour, dehydrated potatoes etc. because there is a difference between being fed and not hungry.

Azure Standard has the cheapest prices on bulk grains that I can find and prices haven't really gone up much from last year.

Recently several of us got together and placed a group order direct from Mountain House.  They offered us a significant discount.

I wasn't the contact; however, I know we started by contacting customer service.  As an outdoor enthusiast group, they offered us a discount.  We bought several thousands of dollars worth of food.

I’m down for that mountain house contact. The keystone stuff is awesome a cheaper option with generally a 5 year shelf life is the little canned hams on the top shelf’s at Walmart they are generally cheaper than spam and way cheaper than keystone. It works well in a ham salad, bean soup, beans in general you get the idea.

Make your own op. You'll get a lot more bang for your buck.

We get free buckets and lids from our publix bakery.

I buy bulk beans and bulk rice.

Mylar bags and o2 absorbers.

Fill your mylar, place absorber, squeeze out as much air as you can, and weld the mylar with an iron.

I have also done a ton of dry pasta. Stone cut oats are also a good candidate.

If properly sealed stored, you can pretty much forget about it.

For fruits and vegetables, we have started buying a ton of whatever is in season and dehydrating. My wife is also taking gardening seriously.

I do have a bunch of LDS and Emergency essential #10 for various things that were on sale over the years.

High sodium mountain house and mre's are not the way to go imo.

This was done over a couple week period.

We also are dehydrating beef, but I'd really like my wife to learn canning.

If you set aside a few bucks and some time every month, you will be surprised how much you will accumulate. People generally grossly underestimate how much food they go through.

I haven't watched the following vid, but there are tons of them on yt.

100 Days Worth of Food for $100: LASTS 25 YEARS!

Good idea to stock what you eat anyway and keep the food on constant rotation.
