That's why I always purchase the cheapest or best deal I can find,
not the latest and greatest, or the "gotta have" everyone is getting. Once you get into something that does not work out, it hurts less. If the concept works and you don't get bored quick with whatever it is (radio, hotspot etc...), you can always upgrade later and you then have a spare. $49.99, already had an old Pi board and got a $5 case: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0816LQP8T I only use it for the Arfcom DMR net and nothing else. It works for that. DMR did not stick with me other than that. I wanted to like DMR, but 2m is where its at around here. Glad I did not spend more. Glad I did not get a DMR mobile, or throw money away on some fancy DMR base station setup. Only two TYT HTs that I use for analog mostly, itinerate mobile, and Arfcom net. I'm glad I only spent $55 on a DMR hotspot and not any more. It did not catch on with me other than one net, and I'm glad I did not spend a fortune. |

At this point, the app is more glitchy than hotspots. |

I have a tyt md380 and no experience.
Can I try to get on this talk group if I correctly figure out the radio programming and find a local tgif repeater or is that impossible snd I need to do the hotspot thing? Thanks for any guidance. |

View Quote If you do find a local TGIF repeater the chances of it having the 556 TG are probably slim to none. You’ll probably need a hotspot. |

Trying to run a Zumspot in VMware - I can see people are transmitting, but only get audio about half the time...
Very frustrating. Looks like it might be working in Crossover, so I'll try to check in if a call is made. |

Great to hear you all!
We had 23 check-ins, net closed at 22:36 EST 73 |

I heard some of the net, but the NCS kept disappearing on me. I could see he was transmitting, but no audio on my radio. Might have been hotel internet. No real telling yet. I use a different system at home than on the road. |

Great net all. Tonight we had 13 check-ins plus net control.
The reoccurring topic tonight and IMO an important one in the current climate, is internet and ID security as part of PERSEC. I'll add more links based on my notes but can add these now courtesy of NUCdt04: Here's some of the links I brought up - nice net again tonight. https://protonmail.com/ - secure email/VPN (and now calendar and cloud storage) https://www.33mail.com/ - unlimited free disposable emails - limits are by bandwidth/emails per day not number of aliases) https://privacy.com/ - Masked card services, make an individual card for each place you shop. https://inteltechniques.com/ - I think it was 2 weeks ago's net that this came up, absolutely great privacy resource and I'd recommend everyone at least listen through the podcast at their leisure. Quoted: Just bought my first DMR HT and really need to get more active with it but have no clue about DMR. View Quote Which radio? I'd suggest you get a hotspot, makes things easier IMHO. Wasn't interested in digital myself but I found it interested when I tried it. A typical radio will still do uhf and vhf repeaters but can also go worldwide with the internet. The programming is no to hard to get a hang of. YT your radio and you can probably find a step by step tutorial. You will need an ID from radioID.net. Arf channel is talk groupl 556 on TGIF or 7000556 on brandmeister. |

Well, I constructed a hotspot, if I ever figure out how to get it to connect to anything I'll let yall know.
|
|
Well it says I'm connecting but I'm not hearing a thing from my hotspot. Guess I'll go for a walk and try again.
|
|
I'm not sure what you are connecting to....TGIF or ARFCom (TG556) on TGIF..... Many times there is no activity on TG 556.

I think I got it figured out, I've heard (and tracked in the dashboard) communications :)
