Looking for recommendations for "off the shelf" 300blk ammo for Whitetail.  I would prefer an all copper bullet, but I can be flexible.

FPNI. Good luck finding it though.

Fwiw, if using a pistol barrel, recommend keeping shots 100 yards and in.  300BO loses a good amount of energy at distance out of shorter barrels.

As others have posted, your best option is the Barnes 110 load.

Beware:   All bullets have a very specific velocity "sweet spot".  Push a bullet too fast and it comes apart and does NOT perform.  Push it too slowly and either it simply doesn't open at all, or it opens slowly, halfheartedly, and really doesn't act like it should

The 300 Blk Barnes 110 load uses a bullet designed very specifically for that one application. Expect good performance.  However, there there are two caveats....

1) The Blackout isn't a power house. It will reliably get the job done, but it is very equal to something like a 7.62x39.  And its relatively under powered compared to a 308 Win and even compared to the lowly 30-30....  There simply inset any 'extra' power to play with, no margin of error.

2) You are already giving up some of that limited power, thanks to the shorter barrel.....

Even though you might be able to reliably hit targets at longer ranges, I would strongly urge you to limit shots to close range.  Copper bullets are notorious for needing a specific speed to open well, and while the Barnes 110 Tac TX is an EXCELLENT bullet for this application, if you get close to that lower velocity limit, all expansion bets are off...  You just shot that trophy buck with a non expanding, 100 grain FMJ for all intents and purposes.

The Barnes is absolutely your best bet.  However, if you cannot find them, Hornady 125 SST or Nosler 125 Ballistic Tips should operate well at the speeds you are going to get.

Took 2 with hornady sub x last year. Both wrecked lungs and broke a rib. One dropped in its tracks, the other went about 35 yards and crashed

The Tac-TX that people have suggested is GTG.

I personally use a Ruger American Ranch with a can, not a 10-11" barrel, but results have been similar to a 30-30 150g soft point.

FWIW, I'm one of the guys who won't shoot deer with 5.56/.223.  I killed a few with TTSX and Gold Dots, and, while they died and I didn't lose them, the lack of blood trail compared to anything else I've used sucked.

I like to heart/lung them and not destroy the shoulder meat if at all possible.  If you shoot shoulder with a 3,000+fps TTSX it'll drop them right there........

.......and completely destroy the whole front quarter, and likely both front quarters.

Not to crash the thread, but does anyone know how well the Winchester Super X 200 grain subs work?

I shot a buck through the vitals with a 150gr Winchester deer season XP round and it ran about 50 yards then dropped. I used a 16” barrel. I did not recover the bullet as it passed through, but the damage was considerable.

The 110gr Barnes load sounds good but I could not find it.

All of this.  I've killed 3 with the tac in a 16" an none were impressive. 2 were 125ish with terrible blood trails and one was a 307 yard spine shot. The bullets worked fine, I think I was expecting too much out of the caliber.

Shot 2 does last year with a 9" pistol and 110grn  vmaxes (it absolutely hated the barnes) and they did very well with the lower velocities from the shorter barrel and 150yards. Only caught 1 bullet in the offside hide and it opened all the way up.  Internal damage was fairly brutal.

Agree. Took a buck this year at 40yds / broadside shoulder with no exit.  All energy dumped inside.  Ran 30yds then dropped.

+1

Any 0.308 bullet 110 grains to 125 grain hollow point pushing 2200 to 2400 fps kills them dead right there.

Shot two does tonight with a 110 grain ballistic tip I loaded to 2400 fps.  Neither doe ran more than 12"  Range was 80 to 100 yards.

125 gr Sierra game kings.  We use them in a 10.5” pistol and a 16” bolt gun. Kills deer dead.

After using Cavity Back MKZ’s in 6.8 on a bull elk, I would ass them to the list since they have a 300blk specific bullet.
