Had a big bodied/small racked 4 come in on opening day. Hit him with a homecast 405 from my .45-70 at 40 yards. He ran about 15 yards and stopped.

First shot would have killed him but when they stop within sight I hit them again. Kind of wish I'd have saved the cape, LOTS of white in the face.

Pic is back at the house after rinsing out the cavity.

Meat buck. First deer I saw today. I am more interested in sausage than bones.

I sat down against a tree and waited about an hour. About a 30 yard lung / shoulder shot with the .30-06. I really need to quit using scoped rifles for deer if I'm going to keep shooting them up close.

Thinking about rattle canning the trusty Savage to celebrate......

Had a nice buck pop over a knoll about 30 yards from me the other day (still hunting). Continued walking directly towards me and made me before I could get the rifle up without him noticing. Should have been ready!

Iowa 1st gun season my oldest son decided to go this year he shot a 10pt in the first 15 minutes has 3 busted pts and if you zoom in can see a nasty gore wound in his fore head wouldn't be surprised if there is an antler tip stuck in there.

2nd day I had a big doe stop about 10 y she didn't go far

3rd day I know it doesn't ever work out like this but got the buck I was after pictures suck I was on my own he busted G4 on the right side that shared a base with the 3 have some good pick and video of him in early November

Good work. I haven't done any skull cleaning myself.

Glad it worked out for you.

That’s only her second deer ever but she loves it. We even went hunting in Colorado for our honeymoon.

The downside is she shoots deer I want to shoot too.

My youngest got his first ever then I got one a few days later, during the Mo. firearms season back in November.
Both with a remmy 700 converted to 300 blk, topped with a cheap Leupold 3-9x40 rifleman, using 125 Sierra game kings. His was about a 30 yd shot, unsuppressed, mine about 80, suppressed. The SiCo hybrid is a little front heavy for him. Attachment Attached File
