I'll second that, though they did have the benefit of DA's willing to actually follow through on the charges. Lot to be said for actually putting somebody into an uncomfortable cell and making them miserable for awhile. Too much "rehabilitation" going on these days, and not nearly enough punishment.

The current attempt to label all crime as a substance abuse problem is short-sighted. Yeah, 9/10 of these guys are using illicit products, but I don't believe thats a primary cause to their criminality, its a by-product of their lifestyle choice. These thugs choose to be crooks; they choose to do drugs. |

Some of us old guys remember the old song called the Merry Minuet?
They're rioting in Africa They're starving in Spain There are hurricanes in Florida And Texas needs rain. The whole world is festering with unhappy souls The French hate the Germans The Germans hate the Poles. Italians hate Yugoslaves, South Africans hate the Dutch. AND I DONT LIKE ANYONE VERY MUCH! But we can be thankful, tranquil and proud Because man has been endowed with a mushroom shaped cloud And I know for certain that some lovely day Someone will set the spark off............... I'll bet that governments around the world are planning ways to block the various electronic messaging services, in case of rioting like what happened in Great Britain. Also, didn't the unrest in the Middle East spread largely because of electronic messaging and the internet?
I'm afraid that even the free speech of law-abiding citizens will be threatened in the future. |
