On edit, are actual Colts more valuable/desirable than some other m4 type rifle? I would think most over there wouldn’t be able to tell the difference or even care as long as it went bang.

Lots of people in other countries want American weapons and equipment. Our gear carries the reputation of being the best, whatever people here think of cosmetics, quality control, etc. U.S. manufacturing is still highly thought of, even if we've moved a lot of it overseas, because we have legal standards that enforce quality control. Colt is one of the names that is recognizable to people overseas. It's quite possible that if someone saw a BCM, Larue, Noveske, whatever overseas, they would have no idea what the brand was and might assume it was a cheap copy or a fake.
A lot of the foreign special operations organizations (like Pakistan's SSG) that our SF and other SOF train and work with end up adopting our gear, which results in the most elite units in foreign militaries carrying M4s and other U.S. equipment. That has the effect of making it more desirable to the rest of the people around them.
