TNVC returned recently to Pro Gun Vegas in Boulder City, NV for another Nightfighter 101 class. We had a great mix of law enforcement and civilian students in this class which immediately followed a sold out Try Before You Buy event the preceding Friday night. This is a fun class for us—we can basically run two Nightfighter 101 classes at the range, and we get a lot of students into this class location.
We really enjoy coming to Pro Gun Vegas. Bobby and Mark are amazing hosts, and we get a ton of support from them. Additionally, we can offer an MG shoot after night one for students interested in that opportunity, which is pretty cool.
We had some VERY tough weather on night one. Winds came in fast and did not let up the entire night. We reached a point where all we could shoot on was steel, but the students powered through the weather like champs. Definitely one of the tougher nights we had in recent memory. Night two was perfect, and we got a lot of shooting in on that night.
We saw a wide spread of night vision devices and student experience in class. The varying experience was fun to work with—from novice to very experienced users I think that everyone got something out of the class. We did have an DBAL-A3 go down on night two from a bad battery spring.
Teaching in proximity to California saw the class with several CA-compliant rifles. Tis posed challenges from magazine capacities to overall function of the weapons. Some students had consistent challenges with their carbines associated with the magazine capacities and mechanical failures. Across the class lubrication remained an issue, but the students stayed aggressive with the maintenance, and we experienced limited failures due to dry guns.
Almost all the students had a red dot on their handgun, which is a great thing to see and a fun part of the teaching to cover. Makes for easy shooting under NVGs.
Pro Gun Vegas remains a staple venue for us for the long haul. They offer a lot of good events and training at their range and if you are in the Vegas area, they are worth checking out. They host a lot of great trainers and are super friendly and easy to work with.
Additionally, several companies stepped up to offer students swag and door prizes for their attendance. We really appreciate their generosity and are proud to have them associated with our classes.
