I realize it's only a "slice of time" sample, but Colts I owned in the 1990's all seemed to have a rusty spring on them somewhere.
To date, all of my "modern" Colts that I've bought, sold, or traded, dating back to 2015 have been issue-free, except for one 6720 that had a buggered bolt ring that caused me to replace all three rings after one range session.
My CR6920 seems perfect except the bore just "looks rough" in terms of plating. It shoots fine just like all the others and is more accurate than some other brands I've owned. It also sighted in with just a minimum of clicks--also unlike some other brands I've owned. (I always sight mine in with a carry handle even if the carry handle goes in the parts box later with the rifle's serial number painted on the bottom in white).
