What length did you decide to cut rail and barrel to? Do you have any pics of the end of your rail? I’m just trying to decide how I want to do this and the length.
|

I run the LT 12” barrel. I cut a long handguard because the holes all lined up better. Can’t remember the exact length, I’ll have to measure it later.

I messaged him yesterday, he has a factory PredatAR SBR. His isn’t chopped

I can't find a good picture of mine, but there is sort of a natural spot to chop a full length 5.56 tAR handguARd. If you have one, look near the location where you could still use 5 grip panels. There is a cross section there where you're at the end of one of the picatinny lugs and you're not in the middle of one of the elongated holes in the side of the upper rib of the handguARd.

No hang over because it’s a factory product. I didn’t chop it. You can see the natural taper towards the end of the rail here: Attached File And another pic cause I love this thing. Attached File |

I went back to your archived thread but it didn’t let me view any of the pics.
Okay and I see now, thank you for the pics, very helpful |

Definitely keep us updated on the project. Would love to see some more SBRs.

Will do, ADCO is having me wait a couple weeks before they’ll accept the project, I’ll add pics and keep it updated

Definitely following this. I missed my chance at a 10.5 factory upper a while back and have been hating myself ever since. I've got two PredatARs, so i may chop one down.

By the way, let's see pictures of the camaro. I have a 68 as well. |

I was trying to decide if i wanted to put a Grendel barrel in 2nd PredatAR and was also thinking about replacing the DD RIS rail on my 10.3 pistol to make it a lil smaller to carry regularly. Im thinking chopping the rail on the PredatAR is going to be the solution to both. I'm going to wait to see what it looks like once you get it back from ADCO @DocThor.

A pistol would be sweet. |

I’ve got a 12” UU on order but wish I could get 10.5”. Not sure how noticeable the difference from my 14.5” tobr will be.

Quick question: the barrel I’m getting with my PredatAR upper is a 16” mid length. Because of the original port position, am I going to run into issues when chopping it down to 10.5”?

Not a chopped one, but a Laure SBR (kind of) the upper is a factory Laure. Guess I need to buy a Laure lower and SBR it.

Numbered them for discussion: 1. Would have to step back the bottom rail. Would be shorter than i would like and leave too much barrel protruding. Would have to matching the lower rail further than the rest of the rail. 2. Might just work. It's really hard to tell eyeballing it. That last thread insert would be pretty much useless unless you cut back anything you are attaching to it. 3. Pretty much not an option. You'd have a weird cantilever effect on the top rail. 4. probably wouldn't work. It's hard to tell but you'd either have a cantilever again or the material connect the front of the top rail would be paper thin and just waiting to break. 5. Seems like a decent possible option. I see a couple options for this one. A) Make is similar to line 1 and step back the bottom. B)Or you could push the line forward a little bit and have top picatinny lug sitting back from the actual front edge of the rail, but you wouldn't have to step back bottom rail. 6. This looks like a similar spot to where @razARback cut his rail. It's between the 6th and 7th insert but looks like a solid straight line. Decent option for a 12" barrel and you might even be able to go another lug forward (might have to do A/B from line 5 if you go another lug forward). Unfortunately the spacing of the holes, contours, and thread inserts on PredatAR and the factory SBR don't line up, so it's not as simple as just cutting it to the same length. None of this is scientific. I didn't use a micrometer. I just lined everything up as best i could with a straight edge to represent barrel length properly. View Quote Alright, you peaked my curiosity. I yanked out my 16” pred. Like you, I didn’t break out my micrometer. I placed the zero of my tape at the seam where the upper meets the HG for reference. It looks like the most natural cut that *should* accommodate a 10.5 is at the 9 15/16th mark on my tape. This would afford the least open holes cut open. OP can try and shoot for the 10.5 to fit in there (I know some guys try 10” rails on 10.5 barrels), or he can cheat his barrel an extra 0.2” and chop at 10.7 for the extra security. I think this cut is most analogous to your number 6 cut mark, but I must admit I like the 5 cut. |

I agree that’s it’s definitely the most natural cut. It might work with a 10.5” depending on the muzzle device and if you don’t use a suppressor. I don’t think you could get a suppressor on there though at cut 6. |

Dumb question just to make sure I don’t mess up the barrel, M4 feed Ramp or standard feed ramp for the Stealth barrel to go into my PredatAR
|
|
The tAR upper is a standard feed ramp. You can use either with it, although rifle barrel/rifle upper is preferred over m4 barrel/ rifle upper
|
|
Have all the parts ready just need the 12inch barrel, LaRue is back ordered on the barrel for a long time(they said 4-6 weeks, highly doubt it)
Scouting the EE everyday looking for one, if someone here has one I’ll purchase if low or no round count. I am going with D.Wilson to chop rail. Lower is approved and engraved already. |

D Wilson chopped a PredatAR barrel for me and did a fantastic job. Went into a Radian. His P/W jobs are impressive.

Mark should do a "pistol" thats all I am saying. Or offer the complete uppers for our lowers.

Anyone know if @larue_tactical would sell just their BCG?
When I bought my PredatAR Upper off the EE for this project the seller didn’t have the correct BCG in it and I’m trying to find one to complete the upper. |
