I knew, this rifle would eventually break any extractor due to AR15 BCG dimensional legacies but honestly I wasn't expecting this so soon. Anyway, any idea where to find another extractor for this BCG? Thanks all! Dimitri View Quote I've read of guys putting standard AR-15 (223/556) extractors in and using them with better results than the PSA KS47 factory extractor. I compared my KS47 extractor to a standard AR15 extractor and they looked very similar. Swap it with a standard AR15 extractor and report back. |

I've all of mine together except a red dot for almost two months now.
I will shoot it this weekend, rain or shine. The red dot will just have to come later. |

Ok, guys, there’s an update.
So my FFL and I, we tried to speak with PSA about this broken extractor… just to listen the usual “send the rifle back” music. Well, since I’m living in one of those states, things are complicated to get in and out. At this point I was almost ready to buy an aftermarket extractor, just to avoid sending the 4’ box through the FFL. But once again, Josiah saved the day. Sent him a PM and got a new extractor in my mailbox today! Josiah, your assistance is very appreciated, thank you! Now about this extractor. The new one seems to have more material in critical spots, see attached pictures. Hope this one lasts longer… Image 1 Image 2 |

Anybody have any experience with the new "Enhanced" extractors?
I just purchased one as a back-up. Currently on a Windham Weaponry extractor that's held up for about 500 rounds. That said, it's chewed through every other extractor I've put in it. The original extractor claw tore off before 100 rounds and also damaged my feed ramp, the replacement extractor I received was visibly corroded with pitted metal and missing finish and that one broke within probably 60 rounds. I then tried a KAK extractor, which broke at about 120 rounds. The current extractor seems to be holding, however I also put in an adjustable gas block (Wojtek Weaponry) and tuned the gas down as far as I could while still cycling. I thought I finally had my KS47 running right until I took it out and had it FTE, friend of mine shot it and reported to me that he was pretty sure it had loaded a live round when it seized. Fortunately it did not, it just had a casing that was incredibly stuck in the chamber while my bolt was slightly disengaged so it could not be broken down. I ordered the new Toolcraft extractor in anticipation of another extractor failure, I'd continue to pursue customer service, but I've honestly had a pretty bad overall experience with that considering the wait times and the corroded extractor I received last time. Also curious if anybody has had an issue with snap-caps? If you load a snap-cap into my KS-47 it will not leave the chamber without using a cleaning rod, it takes little to no force, but you cannot extract it another way. For what it's worth I have the 10.5" KS-47 pistol Gen 2 and I've been using nothing but Wolf steel for ammo. When the thing works it's great, but it doesn't usually work. |

Just ordered a couple extractors from PSA. It’s nice to see so many KS47 parts in stock on the website.
Tried out the Resonator K today and was impressed. Takes the edge off and doesn’t add much weight or length. Attached File |

Just when I thought I finally had my KS-47 running right, the bolt failed.
It started failing to cycle ~5-10% of the time, which I thought was a gassing issue as I put an adjustable gas block on mine so it would stop eating extractors. (My Windham Weaponry extractor has held for almost 1,000 rounds) Turns out the bolt had a lug shear off. I guess points to it that it still cycles at all. The bolt was a PSA made KS-47 bolt for my Gen 2 10.5" KS-47. My opinion remains the same on this firearm, it's excellent when it works. Emphasis on when. I'm at about 2,000 rounds through it now and it's been a struggle. I'm assuming PSA will replace it with one of the new Toolcraft bolts for it and hopefully then it will finally be able to be called reliable. |

Just built mine. It won’t feed from US Palm mags, the bolt won’t strip a round off the mag. Is there something wrong with mine, or will it not feed from some mags?

View Quote As stated above, have you tried other mags. If I'm not mistaken, the US Palm mag is a little 'thick'. I read on a Gilboa M43 (AR pattern rifle that takes AK mags) review, that the US Palm would NOT fit the mag well. I don't see if listed on the PSA website either, so it may be a mag issue and not a PSA issue. They are pretty clear that not all AK mags will fit. AK mags come in a wide variety of dimensions. I know on my WASR-10, some mags are wobbly and others are pretty tight. I just got my PSA KS-47 lower in and my Hungarian 20rd mag locks in. Once I order an upper, I'll try out the mags I have for fit. I got a decent selection of mags as I have been buying for over 25 years. |

Warsaw Pact mags feed fine, US Palm and new Croatian mags don’t. I’ll look at the website again, must have looked past the mag list.

I have a Geissele SSA-E in my KS47 and started getting light primer strikes when I shoot Wolf ammo.
No issue with Tula, Silver Bear, or brass cases ammo. Anyone else having this issue? I’m assuming it’s related to the trigger and I’d rather not adjust the springs. Maybe there is a different firing pin I could try instead. Worse case scenario I just won’t shoot Wolf, but it would be nice to know it’ll eat anything. |

I don't know if the KS47 comes with it or not, but there is an extended firing pin for 7.62x39mm guns. Its specifically made for the Russian ammo as this issue is common. The pins are inexpensive, so definitely worth giving a try.

|
|
[#43]
Thanks, I’ll pick one up.
I can’t remember if they came with an enhanced firing pin already, but at around $7 it’s worth a try. |

I finally ordered a 10.5" upper for the lower I bought 3 months ago. I kept waiting for the stripped upper to come back in stock. I have a Faxon 16" upper that I want to convert over to the KS47 platform. I figure that the10.5" with a brace can work until I get a 16" ready. Then I will either get another lower or SBR it and switch between them.
Its been close to 20 years ago that I saw the Knights AR-47 prototype. I have wanted one since. I almost got a CMMG Mutant but it was always priced just a tad high. |
|
|
[#50]
Right on! I have an unmodified 16" faxon gunner in my KS47 that has been 100%. Zero issues with around1500 rounds through it.
I remember when I was first putting it together I was debating dremeling out the feed ramps. I'm glad I left it alone, just figured I'd mention that. |
