I get to revive this old thread. I put together an URG-I inspired build with a Spikes Optimal profile 14.5 midlength barrel. I had an EoTech 512 as a place holder until my pre-order gray 1-6 Raptor ordered in December arrived in February. Finally mounted up 2 weeks ago. Shot today. I love this set up. After zero and confirming and adjusting at 100 yards I rang steel at 300 12 of 15 shots, (rushed a few and wind). Rang steel 10/10 at 550. The BDC was great and ranging with the reticle was easy. I had to adjust for wider steel plates but worked great holding on left side of gong with a 6 mph wind from 10:00.
I then shot up drills at 5-6m. The reticle is red in sunlight but not quite like a red dot. Still the reticle is easy to see and will work with no electronics due to the etched reticle. Yes the lines on this FFP scope are thick at 6x, but this is a battle scope not a precision scope. It is a very capable scope for 10-600m maybe farther. Really happy. I usually struggle with my Nikon 3-12 at 550 trying to find the hold for the BDC. For the Raptor to hit first shot and every shot after at 550 is a huge testament to the effectiveness of this scope. All this with $58/200 5.56 ammo from Walmart.
