Mail call today was some interesting stuff!
I will say, finding prototype m16 stuff is getting harder and harder to find!
First is a India Trials SCW stock that was different than the Colt SCW due to it not being a side folder and utilizing a normal BCG and buffer. Brent Sauer did a fantastic write up on his site so won’t get too in depth on it. This stock is cracked as well as missing the pin to get it from coming off the tube but I truly do not care as I never thought one would be able to be had!
Second is a prorotpe m5 upper. This is pretty much the same as the normal m5 except is shorter, lacks the Colt logo and is marked ‘X1’ on the upper and the rail so probably a sample.
Lastly is an odd prototype piston upper. This is an early 6940 style upper due to the front studs instead of the QD machined into the upper. It’s a captured piston that comes out the top and the previous owner had no clues about it. There is a pin that pushes out and the whole unit comes out of the top. Pictured is with my 1020 prototype for reference
