Looking for ideas of link retrieval when they come come flying out of my Shrike! Sometimes at the range one can't place for instance a hand truck with large piece of cardboard to stop & deflect the links into a controlled area. It was easy in the past with my 1919 as the links simply fell underneath the gun. Looking for ideas..........

At the local ACE hardware store, I found a magnet about 4" in diameter with a swivel head mount and threaded for a standard paint brush handle. Then they also had a 3 piece wooden paint brush handle set. I leave the magnet attached to one section and the other two unscrewed in my range bag. Each handle piece is about a foot long, maybe a little more. Total cost was about $10-15.
It works great for sweeping the ground to pick up the links. Also works well for picking up Wolf or other steel case empties. So, see what your local hardware store can hook you up with. |

Good idea...I have a magnet that I had used in the past for the A4 but the Shrike throws them out all over.....MAYBE....a giant magnet wall?????

|
Off course I only saw this on video as I don't have any links yet....

My Shrike drops the links in a pretty neat little pile. They mostly dribble out of the link ejection port. Occasionally a link will get flung if an ejecting shell hits it. The brass ejects with quite a bit of force.

When shooting from the bench, I use a small cardboard box (Wolf ammo box) to catch the links as they are ejected.

watsamatau, What kind of modifications did you have to perform on your brass catcher to work on the Shrike and how many empty cases does it hold including the links? Will it take care of a 100 rd nutsack?

I started searching for brass catchers earlier and I ended up ordering the AR15/M16 one from this place:

E&L Mfg. also makes a brass catcher that works well on the Shrike. The "Universal" brass catcher uses two rods that you install on the top cover rail, then the box attaches to them so it can be installed and removed very quickly. The rods can be left in place, as they are small and extra sets can be ordered so you can use the catcher on different guns.

I also have a webbed nylon brass catcher that velcros itself around the handguard. Will see if I can get it to catch links while shooting in the standing position. |

Does anyone have any experience with the catcher from, Tacticalbrassrecovery.com??? The Utube videos look good but it's $159.99 and I'll spend only if it works. My experience with the run of the mill brass catchers that either clamp on to stock forearms or velcro around it only work reliably in semi-auto. As soon as I switch to full-auto the rifle jams! My shrike has the stock forearm.

Thank you. I am interested in the model made specially for the Shrike....

I use a 6" magnet attatched to a broom stick handle. Put some duck tape on the bottom to protect magnet. Works great.
Also used a longer magnet with a set of wheels to roll around. Gotta make another one since i gave the last one away. |

|
Not for me! I used a magnet with my A4 because the links fall straight under the gun. The Shrike throws them all over and I'm only interested if these brass catchers work!

I've got one. It really works. No failures to feed no brass back into the feed tray. Empty it out after 200- 250 rounds into a bucket and use a bigmagnet to pull the linksout and then the brass goes into the tumbler. No mussno fuss.
Pinkerton OUT! |

Okie dokie....glad to hear it!

Anyone know what happened to ( Thomas Cassidy ) ? His email doesn't work! This is the company that adds picatinny rails to the stock forearm of the Shrikes. There is no phone # on the site.

The brass & link catcher for the Shrike requires a picatinny rail on the ejection port side and off course I have the stock forearm without any rails!
