I really really really really really hope this is just an example of some terrible lighting. I ordered ODG, not Jolly Rancher Green.

Does Geissele offer exchanges for this kind of thing? Should we just refuse acceptance at the FFL?

That's my question as well. I mean the fanboys are bound to come running any second, screaming that ano batches will vary....but this is total and complete different spectrum of color from what I have seen on their website and shot. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I understand what your saying its a few shades different than odg. But thats a cool looking rifle reminds me of lmt canteen green. I just build a odg rifle and im a little jealous of yours.

That's right. When I saw those initially, I thought it was a joke. OP said the color isn't as 'limey' and is more middle of the spectrum for ODG.

The thing people don't understand about anodizing is that they dunk the parts in a bath of a chemical and run and electric current through it, causing particles to bond to the surface of the parts in a way that makes the surface harder and more corrosion resistant.
When doing this with any color other than black, it's almost impossible to maintain precisely repeatable color shades from different batches, and sometimes even within the same batch. Geissele even explains this on their website. It isn't like Cerakote, which is basically just a paint job that resists being scratched off better than regular paint, so it's very easy to control the paint color. But anodizing actually improves the material properties of the part. This is one of the reasons the military has been so resistant in the past to anodizing weapons in anything other than black, because they culturally value uniformity and want everyone to look exactly the same during drill. If anyone here seriously has a problem with the colors of their stuff, PM me and I'll buy it off you and you can get back a significant portion of what you paid for it. |

Out of all the legitimate issues people have had with this whole sale, I can’t understand why people are complaining about the anodizing. It has always been very well known the shades vary. I can’t help but think the low pricing is what brought all the “it doesn’t match” buyers and I wouldn’t be surprised if G doesn’t do another sale this cheap again.

Here's another comparison where I only changed the white balance of the photo. Again, outside, natural light, but it was in direct sunshine and not cloudy. Top photo is as my iPhone took it, bottom photo is me quickly adjusting the white balance to more accurately reflect what I saw in person. Different shades, same photos, just changing the photo settings on the picture. Most people that photograph their guns seem to smear Vaseline on the lens and have their feet in the photo. You think these people are going through and color correcting their shots to more accurately reflect the colors in the photo? I went one step further. I put both photos below in PowerPoint and used the color drop tool to pick the colors directly off the rails. Top rail looks like a tan/brown vs. the bottom rail is a nice olive drab. Bottom color reflects what it looks like in person. I just wouldn't clutch my pearls about color matching until you have it in hand, clean it up, and look at it in natural light. https://i.imgur.com/989GXtU.jpg https://i.imgur.com/gDTEcZf.jpg https://i.imgur.com/INZYGZs.png View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Nice work on those posts showing color. I don't see an issue with the colors. At the end of the day there is even a gamble buying black anodized parts and them not matching. If you need a perfect match Cerakote is the answer. I'm looking forward to my DDC set and I've always kinda liked the "fifty shades of FDE" ala the SCAR. Part of the fun of getting an anodized color is seeing what shade you ended up getting. Almost like opening up a pack of trading cards. Will be replacing the 10.3 on this lower (Geissele DDC trigger guard and Receiver Extension on it): |

Jeez (some of) y'all.
Go look at Colt and LMT and whomever else has done green ano on guns before. It's all over the place, and in my opinion, this gun looks great. Shipping times and lack of communication notwithstanding, some people are cryyyyying about weird things and it's embarrassing. |

Man...you guys wouldn't survive having a FDE SCAR...anodizing in color hardly EVER comes out the same...bunch of ballerinas I tell ya...worry more about training, shooting and prepping than freaking matching colors perfectly on a rifle...stop treating them as freaking Barbie dolls.

If anybody gets a lime green and wants to swap to ddc I might be willing to trade. I originally had the odg in my checkout but decided to go with the tried ddc. Given the fact that I havent received my SD yet, well see how I feel once i get it in hand.

I thought this thread had to be a parody or joke, but then I realized I was on the internet.
When people cry about this stupid shit they skyline what type of firearm owner they are, and what purpose they see in firearms. I never knew so many women bought ARs based on the absolute stupidity of these cosmetic complaints. |
