Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can help me out. I took my .308 UU out yesterday to sight it in with my new scope. I used some ZQI 150gr to get on target and try to dial in the scope. I then switched to some Milsurp Malaysian L2A2 from the late 70s. It grouped surprisingly well. I had both 168gr and 175gr FGMM along with 168gr PPU Match. I intended to find out which match ammo my gun liked and stock up on it. I was firing all the match ammo 5rds at a time and then would load another 5rds of a different ammo. After the second go around of match ammo, the 175gr had a misfeed. No problem, lock the bolt back, drop the mag, and try again. The problem continued through the range session but only with the FGMM in both the 168 and 175gr. The ZQI, Malaysian L2A2, and PPU Match ran flawlessly.
The malfunctions I saw: Failure to properly feed a round, double feed, failure to lock back on an empty magazine, and sometimes it would miss the top round completely and not chamber anything.
The latter two malfunctions seem to be short-stroking. Maybe the first two are related as well?
Anyway, does anyone have any advice? It got to the point where I had to single load the FGMM just to finish my range session.
Larue everything btw, standard UU kit and larue lower, larue steel 20rd mag. The gun only had 70rds fired through it before yesterday, all brass cased M80 ammo. I fired about 120rds through it yesterday (20rd 168gr FGMM, 20rd 175gr FGMM, 20rd PPU 168gr Match, 20rd L2A2, and 40rd of ZQI).
