Saw that opticsplanet had the short action Hunter stock for the Ruger American series listed on their website, ave when I asked them, they said that the stocks are 2 weeks out. Any truth to that or they jumping the gun?

Is this a stiffer version of the plastic fantastic the American ships with?
(Bought one for my son... decent shooter but I personally don't care for the stock) |

I would love a better stock for my ruger American 300 blackout rifle. Awesome little gun but it needs a cheek riser to bring the head inline with the scope. the magpul stock would be able to solve that problem

Tag.
Here we go again. We will delay the shit out of this for 18 months under the guise of making it more perfecter, but in the meantime, buy our new line of truck nuts that we spent 19,738 man hours on and never said a word about. YOU WILL LOVE THEM, and shut up about the things we promised. FFS guys, get marketing, production and R&D all in the same room for an hour. |

Yep we're basically in October and not a word on a release date. My guess is Summer 2018. Delay delay delay

Website wording changed from "Coming Late 2017" to "Coming Soon"
Not sure if that is good or bad? |

Maybe they're working on a fix for the 7.62x39 American ranch(it comes from the factory with a different "bottom metal", and it takes Mini-30 mags, rumor is that the Ranch in 223 and 300BO will be going to the new style of bottom metal to take mini14 mags as well.
|
|
[#21]
I am no expert on this but I am pretty sure the Hunter stock for the Ruger American is going to come with bottom metal (polymer bottom metal?). Are you saying that maybe they are modifying it to fit mini 30 mags instead of aics mags? Seems doubtful?
|
|
[#22]
I was hoping they would just pump out the normal short action for all of the regular versions out there in .308, 6.5, 6mm, .243 etc since that's what the vast majority of the rifles sold are chambered in.

Not out yet.
I moved on and bought another stock today. Came here just to let them know they lost a sale. |
|
[#26]
Yeah I think I'm in the same boat. I was going to buy a few Americans to complement the one I have and buy Magpul stocks for them all. I guess I'll just move onto something else
|
|
[#27]
I'm ready to just buy a Boyd's and move on. They are missing the market.
|
|
[#28]
My friends and I have four Magpul Hunter stocks between us for 700s. We now have four Boyd's between us for our Americans. As much as people like Magpul, we can't wait forever. How hard can it be?
|
|
[#29]
Got my stocks in from MDT in less than 4 days.
They will have one out for my Savage in a few weeks. Guess who won't get my business in that market either? And while your AICS type mags may be cheaper, I won't buy them just as a matter of principle. That thread on what happened to you guys.... You really might want to take another look. After this debacle, The Ak47 mags that hardly fit any of the 7 pre-ban or post ban rifles that I have, the Ak74 mags that fit none of the 5 rifles I have, and the AUG mags that are 1-4 in fitting the 3 Steyr rifles I have, you need to step back and read the "what happened" thread. If you are going all in on .mil contracts that's fine. Admit it and move on. Otherwise stop blowing smoke up our asses. |

I'm hoping the Ruger Hunter will fit the Predator version. I have a 6.5 that I'd like a stock for.
I see that the web site says coming soon where it used to say late 2017. |
|
[#31]
Guys, my Ruger Predator is going to have the stock replaced. That is a fact. Please ensure that it is one from your company by releasing the Ruger stock all the major dealers already have priced and on their websites with no stock on hand.

The Ruger American stock is still a flimsy piece of junk with way too low of a comb, pmags or no.
|

[#35]
Maybe the delay is because of Ruger changing the magazines on the short actions to AR and AI style mags, and Magpul is adjusting the design of their stock to allow those mags to still work?
I can hope at least... |

My point it that swapping the newer RAP stock onto the older one isn't going to solve all of the problems with the stock. I am still waiting for the Hunter. Hurry up magpul! View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

The Ruger American stock is still a flimsy piece of junk with way too low of a comb, pmags or no. The mag change update helps, but won't fix everything wrong with it. If the new Ruger stock was slightly heavier in build design, that would also help out a bunch with the flex and feel problems. From there, a saddle or kydex cheek riser would make it an ok gun. This is only IF, they fix the flexing issues with the forend. We should start a pool for the release date of the Ruger Hunter. |

Guys are bedding the stocks with great results.
For $25 and a half hour of your time it will be a 75% improvement. There are whole forums deticated to this alone. |

[#40]
I just called Magpul and asked if the the new 300BO Ruger American Ranch that accepts AR mags will be compatible with the hunter american stock. She said she didn't think so. I really want it to...but that will be tough. Then one has to decide do they want better mags or do they want the hunter stock (which is awesome).

The number of different models and calibers makes testing and tweaking very lengthy, and we had some redesigns due to them releasing new models after we went to tooling. We're currently looking at a late Spring 2018 shipping target date.
|
|
[#43]
Damn, I figured them changing things up would cause a delay. Better to get it right the first though, instead of having to change things up later I suppose.

What about Savage stocks for only the 4.4 inch bolt spacing centerfeed top bolt release models, since most people that shoot long range and want to change stocks use that action almost exclusively?

I'm wanting one of these as well. I want a 22-250 predator set up with night vision for predator hunting. I hope the 22-250 will work in the Magpul mags
