Traveled to FLIR last month for relaxing meeting and enjoyed some good Cuban cigars along with playing with the new line of 12um Boson goodies. Hands down the best 320 I've seen to date! At first look, it was hard to believe this was a 320 system. Took some quick pics and vids. Game changer for sure. More to come with pics and vids stay tuned...
Latest from FLIR is THE Q14B I have shown here will ONLY be hand held and helmet mountable. I was not allowed to say anything up until now as we are under NDA. Below is their official statement about the Q14 changes from 1st Quater FLIR is constantly seeking consumer feedback. As we expanded our feedback loop to a larger pool of end-users in Q1, we were convinced that eyepiece optic would be served better as an application-specific device. That is: monocular eyepieces provide short eye relief. When mounted to most weapons, comfort and ergonomics get compromised. As a result, FLIR’s new breakthrough FLIR Q14b powered by its Boson core will be launched as a hand held monocular and helmet mounted product only, with no weapon mounting capability. The product will also be renamed to avoid cross-references to the existing Quark-based FLIR Q14. Each Breach ordered will also come with a FREE TNVC Thermal Remote Battery (TRB) Cradle System. As soon as we're allowed to release the actual release date we will advise thank you for the interest.

What is the ideal range for the weapon mount setup for this thing? The price point is great, but how would it compare to a currently priced 4k thermal?

Upon my visit to FLIR awhile ago I got to peek at the new PTS233 at that time, these are the 19mm pics and video I took at their facility I had shown in the above post. We were UNDER NDA during this visit and could not talk about what the unit was...We can now say the new PTS233 has been released and our own Tom from our sister company NightGoggles has had his hands on it as well from a few months ago.
The new FLIR ThermoSight Pro PTS233, unboxed! FLIR ThermoSight Pro PTS233 Through The Lens! The new PT233 with it's new 320 12um Boson core gives some pretty darn good resolution for the price of $2199.00! I took some recent pics with permission from one of our pre-order customers on a hot 90+ deg day and the images below are no where depicting the true image I was seeing. Each new PTS233 comes with an impressive host of accessories - Hard Case - 27 Page Manual - Memory Addendum Sheet - Quick Reference Card - A very high quality USB Cable (Taking pics is as easy at it comes) - Batteries - Extra Battery Carriage Presently all for $2199.00. You can get your PTS233 HERE - |

The "other option" I was referring to at the time I wrote about (but due to NDA's with FLIR I could not talk about) was the PTS233 which was the 19mm system I took the original pics and vids of while visiting FLIR early this year. Hope this helps. Vic View Quote |

Did they provide any timeline on the breach now that the PTS233 is shipping?

How does the PTS 233 compare to the RS32 with a 19mm lens? Obviously the on-board recording and all of that... I am talking resolution and actual sensor info.

The resolution difference with the new 320 12um Boson core and algorithms vs. the 17um RS32 is hard to compare apples to apples. When looking through the new 12 Boson for the first time, I thought I was looking at a 640 system. With the RS, I know it's a 320 system. I think this is the best way to describe the viewing experience of the new PTS233. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Just received this from FLIR.
Dear valued customer: We would like to notify you that the FLIR ThermoSight PRO PTS233 displays an image that renders at 60Hz, as opposed to the originally stated 30Hz. The recorded files from the unit still output at 30Hz. As a result, note that FLIR’s product description for this unit will change as follows: From: FLIR ThermoSight PRO PTS233 1.5-6x19 (30Hz) To: FLIR ThermoSight PRO PTS233 1.5-6x19 (60Hz) There will be no change in Part # or UPC. |

So after the looooong delay....
1/2 Dozen Breach units arrived. Sold out in a few hours and the next batch due in a couple of weeks we're told. A few pics of the simple helmet mount solutions for folks who want to roll that way will be on our web site in a few days will run approx. $85.00 for the Dovetail mount. We are still testing the bayonet style mount. Also Wilcox dual mounts and our newest RQE solutions will cost ya $800+ to play with duals of NV and thermal but they will NOT fuse like you think...More on that later. For now enjoy the newest pics and I can try to answer any Breach questions. I am pretty stoked these FINALLY released, been waiting awhile since the original pics on Pg. 1. Resolution still looks spot on like the units I worked with earlier in the year poste up above. This unit will be the lightest hand held spotter out there 7.4oz and also a great tool not only for the hunter and the Rural LEO's tool box. Each Breach ordered will also come with a FREE TNVC Thermal Remote Battery (TRB) Cradle System. https://tnvc.com/shop/flir-breach-ptq136/ |

a great tool not only for the Rural LEO's tool box. At that price point I might actually have a shot at getting one for real. Now if only they had a ~$3k PAS-29'esque coti for my legacy PVS-14... |

Phil, not sure why you posted this on this thread. Assured EVERY employee at TNVC IS a NRA life member. If they are not one before they come on board, I personally spring for that membership when they are hired. One of the many perks we have here at TNVC and NightGoggles.

So.... if I have a dovetail mount for my pvs14 this will work with my helmet setup? It's ok to say no.

Quoted: Sure can. We are offering a dovetail mount adapter on the web site in a few days showing this as I had shown in the pics above. We do NOT recommend using a helmet mounted thermal to navigate with! There is enough internet lore from a few who think they can over regular NV. This thermal system is strictly for scanning heat sources. View Quote |

@TNVC
Might be stupid questions, and this was partially covered in the other thread, but in your opinion how would you rate this as a scanner for hunting coyotes and also for use as a close up tool? This is basically how I currently use my ThermApp, except obviously the ThermApp isn't weatherproof or ruggedized. I really like the idea of the size of the Breach a lot, something small I can stick in a pack and take with me on most hikes. However I also hate to spend that kind of money on the Breach if spending a little more will get me a thermal scanner that will have significantly better resolution, to the point of outweighing the perk of the Breach being small and handy. I can say I'm generally happy with what I can do with the ThermApp. Do you think I'd see much of or any decrease in clarity with the Breach? |

What separates the BREACH is it''s incredibly light weight (7.4oz) and it's 320 12um Boson Core, it has fantastic resolution as you can see in the pics I took on at the top of this thread when I first handled the unit June of last year. Working more with the Breach, I can also focus pretty well close up on my fingers while my arm is outstretched. As for spotting Yotes. No issue detecting at heat signature 300 yards but you will not know what it is. Notice I do not caveat that "I can spot a yote or hog", but you will spot a heat signature. You will have to get a Yote in close at 50-75 yards for true Positive ID. Remember this is a 1x system and I'm always conservative about PID's. While you can use the digital zoom, you will also lose half your resolution. |

It has the standard 19mm lens, so I guess that means it has about a 3x native magnification? I'll likely never mount a Breach to a helmet for hands free use (guess I shouldn't say never...), but I do like the idea of having a rugged thermal small and light enough that I don't mind tossing it in a pack to take with me when going hiking, hunting, or on a trip. Just need to decide or figure out if after 3-4 years of my ThermApp being my only thermal experience if I'm going to feel I should have gone a different route rather than the Breach. |

@TNVC the link posted earlier in this thread for the Flir Horn Bayonet Mount is broken: https://tnvc.com/shop/flir-breach-ptq-horn-helmet-mount-adapter/
Can it be purchased separately? Can you confirm that if I have a Wilcox G11 that this is what I need to run the Breach? Please post a link. |

Quoted: After testing their Bayo mount, Chip and I found the mount to be chaotic causing the BREACH to be angled while helmet mounted with the G11 which caused the display to also be angled so we sent the mounts back. It's being re-worked and no ETA. The only single mount solution thus far is the dovetail mount which works well. https://tnvc.com/shop/flir-breach-ptq-dovetail-helmet-mount-adapter/ View Quote |
