I think you guys are missing the point. Obviously they will only ship to an authorized Colt FFL when they have guns to ship but do they actually notify those people who enter their information for the watch list on any particular firearm? The Colt website allows users to create an account with Colt and to chose to be notified when they have a particular firearm available. My question is do they actually follow through and contact people wanting a particular gun then allocate and ship that firearm to an AD? I have been on a the watchlist for a Colt SAA revolver for over three years and never been contacted.
Update: This might help clarify the question. I copied this text below directly from the FAQ's on the Colt website. Read the last line. This states you can buy the gun directly from Colt and have it shipped to an AD. If out of stock, in theory you add the gun to the watch list then they should contact you when your next in line and they have a particular gun available at which point you could then purchase the gun directly on the website and it would be shipped to a local AD for pickup. This sounds like a great way to get a Colt firearm if they actually do what the website indicates. So has anyone ever successfully purchased a Colt gun this way?
Where can I purchase Colt Firearms?
Colt Firearms can be purchased through a Colt authorized Stocking Dealer. To find a Stocking Dealer near you, click on the Dealer Locator link at the top of the website. If a Colt Dealer near you is setup as a Buy and Pickup location, firearms can be purchased directly on our website for pickup.
