Skipped the first 2 “in-stock” alerts finally caved on the 3rd for a lower....now it gets canceled. Guess that’s a sign

Finally had time to pick up the lowers from AU. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the new Carbine marking but they grew on me..

I thought Colt quit selling lowers around 2018?
Did Covid pricing drive Colt out of retirement? |

Quoted: I thought Colt quit selling lowers around 2018? Did Covid pricing drive Colt out of retirement? View Quote Lowers officially from Colt has stopped. Yes it was sometime probably early 2018 and was stated their legal team advised them to. These lowers from AU are separated from complete rifles. Colt never went into retirement, they had other obligations to fill and it didn’t help the market was completely saturated at the time so they were taking a break on the civilian market. |

I’m interested in what these actually are.
Listing is confusing about what markings but they have 78 lowers listed as in stock as of now. That’s a lot of takeoffs and more so because they don’t have a corresponding number of uppers listed that would have went with them. |
|
I read it as they have some that are M4 marked and once those are sole through they will change the description. Maybe not all 80 at 2:30 cdt are marked M4 but only some are.
|
|
I ordered one while the message was up. I guess I'll see when it gets in which marking I got.
So what's the deal on these anyways? Is there some sort of pedigree that says they are takeoffs from factory rifles vs just lowers? Can you make a pistol out of them? |
|
I actually want a Carbine marked one and not M4 marked one.
As usual text of listing is misleading. What the hell are they? |

GB has a few brand new CARBINE marked ones that include stock for $599.

View Quote Unless Colt has just recently changed their tune, these are take offs and can’t legally be made into a pistol. Unfortunately without a serial number and a call to Colt you can’t tell for sure. |

SOTs can remanufacture lowers with the stroke of a pen. |

AUs site says "LIMITED QUANTITY OF NEW FACTORY MARKED "M4 CARBINE" LOWERS AVAILABLE WHILE THIS MESSAGE IS PRESENT".
Seems pretty clear to me as to what markings folks will be getting while that message is up. |

View Quote Possibly, but if it left the factory as a rifle then it is always a rifle. What the ffl does and the end user does then it’s on them, doesn’t necessarily make it legal. I would think if a SOT remanufactures it will have to have there info engraved on it. |

SNATCH ONE UP QUICK.
AU stated in a email to me that they are M4 CARBINE marked. AND received from COLT as lowers only. "This batch is marked M4, we are receiving just the lowers from Colt." BUY, BUY, BUY, BUY, BUY. About 20 units left. Pistol eligible. |

Quoted: Nice post some pic’s, hopefully there M4 Carbine marked as described. I would have grabbed one/two but still have the 2 Carbine marked ones just sitting in the safe. Resale on the M4 rollmark will be decent but not pistol dollars. Cheers |

View Quote Yeah, I don't know about AU and their games. I had a customer (NFA dealer, I am) order in a supposed factory Colt 6940 SBR from AU. So sure, it was a newer Colt lower and 10.3 Colt 6940 upper. But the box label had a couple white labels over it with the correct specs written on it in black marker.. But the form 3 said the barrel was 14.5 inches long and the overall length was that of a 14.5 inch SBR. Had to contact ATF and have the registry updated. Freaking AU |

AU is showing over 300 in stock for $500 shipped, not a bad price.

I sent an e-mail to them earlier asking if they are M4 rollmarked and did not get an answer yet.

The last batch of m4 marked ones they had clearly said that in the description, these say “carbine” I do wonder where all the uppers went that these lowers came from? |
