Greetings all,
A few months ago I submitted an archive lookup for my two SP1s, a rifle and a carbine. Colt reached out to me today with a phone call and an email asking for pictures of the serial on the SP1 rifle. They say something is “off” and they want to “see if there is a zero” in between the “SP” and the number I sent them. There isn’t.
The serial in question is SP30xxx, which through a search using Colts own serial number lookup is dated to 1973. If I can find it using their own simple search system, why can’t they? Is something funky going on or am I just a conspiracist?
Little backstory on the rifle, I purchased it from a (garage) FFL holder in 2017; he told me he had bought it in the early 90s from someone else and it had set in the safe for 25 years.
I’m just curious to see what others think as my first thought was that the rifle had been stolen and reported missing at some point.
