We're still awaiting some final details. The production stock will not have the Sig adapter, as it will include a new folding mechanism sourced or designed by B5.
Still a few months out on the production stock. You'll likely see some other vendors utilizing this stock, but with a different attachment system. The stock with a Picatinny folder will be exclusive to Brownells. |
|
Any news on this stock?
Any updates? Is the project dead? @brownells |
|
At the moment, a new folding mechanism is being developed. The prototype at SHOT used a Sig Sauer MCX style folding mechanism. Hopefully we'll have a better timeline in the near future.

Any update? You guys have made a lower that offers virtually no options for mountable stocks for the rifle. As it stands now, the 16 inch upper is pure trash due to lack of a usable stock the 1913 mounting system was played out 2 years ago.
Eta: sitting here very upset that i cant find a fucking stock anywhere online that will mount to this receiver. You should have released the folding stock at the same time as the upper. |
|
Have you looked at Lage Manufacturing?
They make a nice folding stock with a 1913 attachment. |

Looking at their left folding MPX stock. That is the only one I am interested in, not the canted ones or right side folders. If you know of somewhere that has it please let us know. |

I hadn’t noticed they were out of stock, but that’s how it with most things these days...
I just bought a Sig MCX “Kate Moss” skeleton stock off the EE, and I’m embarrassed to say what I paid. |

Well I have more than enough complete lowers to use with my BRN–180 upper so at this point I am going to hold out for this folder, looks awesome, Brownells keep us posted! |

The stock was a tease for sure.
The stock will not be an exclusive to Brownells as Brownells stated. They did state their folding assy will be a exclusive. The stock is made by B5. There are many other options out their that fold left and are nice. MANY. But for me the skeletal MCX and the possible B5 are the only ones I like. The skeletal MCX is my favorite and discontinued. Brownells could contact the maker and ask for a run to sell. They should but they will not? Brownells, call the company and request a run of 100 @Brownells @Brownells_ar15 sig also makes a nice adjustable left folder that is thin. Ace Doublestar makes some. There is a company that makes one with a adj cheek riser. Still and now waiting on the B5. |
|
There’s one on the Black Collar Arms site for their Pork Sword.
It has an adjustable comb I think. I’m sure it’s not in stock though |

Folding M4 style from Sig
MCX/MPX "Mini" Lage stocks I spent some time yesterday trying to find viable options and the above are what I came up with. Lots of options *seemingly* available on the Lage manufacturing site. Some with degrees of cant, some straight. They all looked like they were compatible, but I'm sure y'all will correct me if I missed anything. |

still wanting one very bad. saw some of the recent g2 promotion adds displaying one. stop teasing me. hopefully closer to release? @brownells_ar15 |
|
yup, approaching a year of tease and no product.
giving up on this vaporware! @brownells_ar15 |
|
As always, your excitement for BRN-180 products is appreciated. But unfortunately in a year like 2020, when demand for products is off the charts and unprecedented, things take longer. Especially in situations like this, where niche items do not take priority with manufacturers who are busy churning out standard AR parts and accessories. I will try and get an updated ETA for you.

I've been following this thread since July. I would love to see this eventually available!
|
|
Any new update on this @brownells ?
I'm holding out hope for it.?? |
|
I doubt any work is being done on it.
They can say all they want. I choose not to believe it. Another example of a shotshow tease with no end product. They claim they are waiting on a folding mech to be designed and made. Waiting on the "we are too busy". Many shops would kill for business. Like Stormwerks. @brownells_ar15 |
|
Most definitely still a project we're working on, and more importantly, making headway.
I know it's never fast enough to satisfy demand, but thanks for the interest, as always. |

The prototype is about as long as an MOE SL stock at full extension. The perspective in the picture makes it appear to be much longer than it is. However, we are taking this under advisement, because I know for me, personally, I run my stocks on carbines at about the midpoint, or even shorter.

Shown at about 15 inches. I just measured a Magpul CTR stock fully extended on a standard AR. It has a LOP of 13.75 inches. I have long arms and at 6ft tall. I run an AR one click in from max extended or at 13 inches. If you are fixed at 15 inches. It is too long. If you are at 5 ft 8, you are going to be mad. Yes please consider my recommendations. |

So it's a little longer than an A2, which is a stock widely regarded as being too long?

Quoted: Since when has the A2 been regarded as too long. I must have missed that memo as it's the perfect length for my short ass (5' 08"). Most options are uncomfortable too short. Look at pretty much any other rifle or even people shooting ARs in 3 gun/action rifle. If you take a tape measure down the rack they'll be at A1 length or shorter. High Power is about the only place you'll find a large amount of A2 length stocks. |

View Quote 13 to 13.5 inches lop is the sweet spot. I run a MCX at 13 inches lop and it is great. An AR A2 has a spec of about 13.5 inches lop. Unless redesigned, the BRN-180 will have a lop longer than an A2. Buyers will complain and rightly so. Brownells BRN-180 lowers are not the same with lop. The AR-180 copied one has a longer lop than the other by about .5 inches. |

@BRN-180
Have you seen Rick's prototype? You seem to have a very strong opinion about everything, what's yours on Rick's? |

Definitely buying when brownells drops! Worth that wait afaic.
|
|
This stock is in the gun industry equivalent of “development hell”.
|
|
LOL on this. Time period on this suggests never coming to market.
Covid/panic/shortages.......yeah right. |
|
Interested in this.
Very frustrating with everything though. Non-standard Ar parts seem to be unobtainium everywhere. I’ll be glad when the shortages are over |
|
Well I fent on a brn-180 lower and upper. Both inbound. Hopefully the retro style folding stocks come to fruition. The skeletonized stuff out now doesn’t interest me.
Any updates on this? |
|
It's still in the works, according to the Product Team, and it seems like it's getting close to finalized, but I'm leery of giving any ETA since there have been so many delays.
