I purhcased two of these. Couple of things...
These are nice. They look "right" and the FA now makes sense and looks balanced. Finish is excellent.
First "issue"...fitted a Hodge barrel that was swapped from another upper. The fit was extremely tight. Took multiple attempts with freezing the barrel and heating the upper to get done, and also used very fine sandpaper to smooth out the SFL in the upper on final attempt. Lots of work, but expected as BCM included a note in the box about tight fit. Plus Hodge barrels are known to use slightly oversized barrel extensions. Still, it was actually ridonkulously tight.
Second issue...not compatable with the LMT MARS lower I intended to mount upper #2 on. The new forward assist design/location impacts the righthand (ambi) bolt release paddle and the recievers can't close. So that sucks, as I wanted to build my take on an improved MilSpec-type carbine, using non-billet but non-standard receivers and parts. Sort of a WWSD with a more "normal" look.
I am considering modifying the ambi bolt catch/release part to remove the release paddle, as I really don't think I would use it much, but then that kinda misses the point of what I was wanting the MARS lower for.
Oh, well.
Also, unsure why BCM chose to use grey T markings, as they don't match the white T markings on their rails. Not a fan of that. Also the T markings are not rolled/engraved/etc., but just lasered on.
