ARES FORUM PARTICIPATION RULES
1. Play nice. If a thread involves insults, slander/libel or is off topic it will be removed. 2. No ARES bashing. While we will tolerate constructive criticism, if it leads to insults directed at ARES we will remove anything negative. If a you have a complaint, call ARES directly. Personal attacks on ARES staff will be deleted and a report will be sent to the AR15.com staff. 3. We will answer posts as quickly as possible. ARES is open 9-5 eastern time Monday through Friday and we will answer during those dates/times in most cases. We will reply in a timely fashion though. 4. This is an ARES Defense Industry Forum. Products manufactured by other companies should not be advertised in this forum without specific consent from ARES. FAQ's Q. Are your barrels chromed lined? A. On the SHRIKE familiy of weapons our barrels now feature properly chrome lined bores. Q. What is the "nomal" break in peroid for the SHRIKE belt feed system? A. We recommend a break in of 200-300 rounds, and the use of CLP as per the manual. Q. Is it okay to use steel cased ammo in any of your firearms? A. We DO NOT recommend steel case, reloaded or remanufactured ammunition in our firearms. Q. Will you have barrels and parts in stock to ship with my upper/rifle. A. Yes we have barrels and most parts in stock right now except belt feed parts that will be needed to complete all orders. We are now taking backorders for belt feed conversions for AARs as well. Q. Can I upgrade to a rail handguard and how much will that be? A. Yes that can be done at the time of contact so your upper will ship with the handguard installed, the cost is $672.00 with no installation fee charged($100) and they are in stock. Q. What spare parts do we recommend? A. Extra barrels are the most ordered part, also extra bolts. We also recommend extra recoil and op rod springs and a spacer for A1/A2 stocks in case you want to run the gun with a fixed stock of some type. Q. How much is a set of iron sights. A. Iron sights are $275 and they are in stock. WE WILL BE ADDING MORE SOON!!! |

This I hope you would agree, is a legitimate question. I sent in $1000.00 eight years ago. I have been patient, I haven't bad mouthed you "Ever", I have endured and welcomed your product improvemnts, I have remained undertanding of machinery issues and the company move. More recently, I have also gotten excited about the new information being posted on this site as well. Now.......Here is my issue and I hope to see it addressed promptly. My balance is $1795.00 OK no problem, I have the funds. Herein lies the issue,............ I read this post by another depositer!
They posted on AR.com (12/14) ""Things are moving along though and Shrikes are shipping."" Yet, I cannot find anyone that actually got it in the last 3 weeks or so. My check (last invoice) was cached by ARES 26 days ago and I just cannot understand why it was not shipped yet as Mark told me that everything on my invoice WAS in stock and ready to go. What pisses me the most is when someone tell me something already knowing that will not happen as told. If anyone got a recent delivery, please post. Now, I have a concern just like this guy. "if" the units are in-stock, "Why" hasn't this unit been shipped? Given the scope of this project, now is a terrible time for delays on an "in-stock" item! Please share what is going on regarding this situation. Best Regards-Wind |

a) How long is the wait time once a deposit is placed for me to "receive" a shrike upper?
b) Do I receive credit for interest earned annualy on my deposit as I wait for my upper to arrive? c) What is ARES opinion about the ridiculously inflated prices for re-sale of preowned shrikes for sale here and on other sites? Thank You |

Thank You A. We no longer accept deposits for new order and new orders will ship in April 2011 B. We no longer accept deposits C. This is a "free market" and that is the American way, no type a MAP or "gouging" policy could stop this over and under selling. MAP pricing and structures like it are not truly enforceable per US law; unless it is a item that is listed as a need, not a want. |

Sorry to post this here also.....it might have gone un-noticed on the other page:
OK, I have been very patient like most of the Shrike believers......... I have an invoice #222 and it is for one shrike and a lot of extras. I received the book and bills, overnighted the funds for the balance and have not heard from ARES. My check was cashed just after Thanksgiving. I see units have been delivered with invoice numbers in the mid 200's. Can you please update the status of my order? I did not receive a notice from Big Brown that my Shrike was on the way. Thank you, CLW |

question: What is the purpose of using the supplied Ares Bolt catch? Does it have to be used?
Thanks |

Does this (bolded) mean that Ares will no longer be offering the Shirk for sale once the current group of orders have been filled? |

We are also taking orders for new belt feed SHRIKEs, they are called the AMG uppers; there $5300 and come with the rail handguard and iron sights standard. |

There are aftermarket ones which cost between $50 to $100 which still allow release. I ordered one from Tom Casssidy. |

Like everyone else, You are on the list and it will be a surprise when you get the call. So far no one out side of Ares has any idea where they are on the list. It sounds like it will be soon though.

Dear Ares,
I installed the supplied mag catch shipped with my Shrike. However, one needs three hands to lock the bolt back. Is there a bolt catch that can be activated without being a magician? |
