Just a thought - a few years ago the Saiga AK was available with a non-pistol grip stock. It was a good option for ban states, and did not consist of much more than a reconfigured trigger group and sporter stock.
I'm not in favor of any of these types of bans, but an option for an AK action without a pistol grip would be useful to people in many states right now, and possibly more useful down the road. Sad, but true
The Saiga was a simple conversion, and even an AR lower can be reconfigured and designed to use standard AR uppers, like the FightLite SCR.
So, while I think these regulations are poorly thought out, they
are gaining momentum and it'd be good to have options besides a Mini 14 or SKS. Both are really dated and limited. States with millions of people like California and New York could be potential markets for more semi-autos with sporter stocks.
