About a month ago me and my buddy ordered some 80% lowers in both anodized, and one of them non anodized to play around with first since we had never done them before. On the non anodized receiver the safety detent hole was slightly off center which causes the safety to point at a slightly different angle then it should in both Safe, and Fire. The anodized ones were pretty straight, if they are off it is just very slightly and nothing bothersome. The jig is the 5D Pro so I don't think there is anything wrong there.
My main question - Is that common to have the safety detent hole drilled slightly out of place? I am wanting to order a few more 80%s for myself to do some retro builds and would like to have them sent off to be reprofiled and engraved and would hate to sink that much money in each one of them and end up with the safety being off center again once completed. Perhaps it was just this latest batch of lowers, or I just got very unlucky?
The sides of the lower were also slightly off center meaning one side of the receiver wall is thicker then the other - but this isn't really anything that bothers me and I have seen it on factory lowers. The anodized ones came out nearly perfect in every way other then many M3 Pmags wouldn't drop free and I had to file a good bit out of the magazine well area. Just surprised I never hear of these issues more often unless it's something that rarely happens.
I'd appreciate any input on the matter, as I prefer to order from RightToBear as they have always done me right and are a great company with great prices. I just don't want to order a bunch of them and end up with more out of spec ones. They are fully functional but the safety is bothersome enough I wouldn't want to build anything decent with it.
Thanks for your time!
