I haven’t shared this here but I picked this up last year from gunrboker and it had sat for about 6 months before I found it.
This was on display at Colts booth at Shot Show in 2014. There were 2 made and both were taken to the show and the second was destroyed at the factory leaving this as the only surviving one. The rifle was made in house using a colt m4 lower and commando upper that they welded an extended flash hider to bring it to 16”. It was then sent out to be coated along with the mags. I don’t recall if it was a hydro dip or some sort of cerekote. I will have to double check.
The handguards I believe were made in house and a pretty rough.
The rifle came with the matching box and letter along with 3 matching mags.
All in all a neat gun and happy I was able to snag it! It would have been neat for Colt to introduce a pattern like this with their current reissues that are not made in house.
