I have been watching for this release for a while and they are finally appearing on Gun Broker.
Colt has re-branded the iconic 6920 series of carbines again. The new release is now designated the CR6920. Colt has consolidated all Commercial & LE Rifle rollmarks under one common model naming nomenclature,"Colt Carbine". This change allows for consistency in manufacturing across current and future rifle builds. Features on this model are identical to the prior LE6920 platform, with the exception of the changed rollmark. All other features appear to stay the same. I don't have any grief with the rollmark change after seeing what litigation did to Remington. I would rather see Colt change a rollmark and stay in business than get sued by some virtue signalers because a rifle has 'military' markings. It will be interesting to see of Colts series of 'Military Classics' (2018 SOCOM, CRM16A1, CRXM177E2) stay in production with the replicated government rollmarks. I plan to get one on order this weekend if I can find one in stock at one of my preferred sellers. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |

I wouldn't mind if it was Something Carbine maybe, but just "Carbine" seems off. Wouldn't stop me from getting one if I needed one, but wouldn't draw me in. Half the reason I originally kept my 6720 lower was because it was marked AR15A4 and it's nice to have one of the hated maligned evil AR15 rifles...
So does that mean the 20" gun will say "Rifle"? :) |

I would have put the Colt name logo to the left of “CARBINE”.
But what do I know. It looks weird imho. |
|
I just got one of these yesterday.
I’m with y’all that the “carbine” alone looks weird. Hoping it will grow on me. As long as it goes bang when I need it to..... |

I think it definitely looks off just saying “Carbine”... however, and I may be in the minority, but I actually prefer it not having the stylized “Colt” text next to the horsey. Gov rifles (that I’ve seen) don’t have them. I believe the exports do. But we all know what the horse means
My preference is how the SP1s and rifles of that era were rollmarked. Nothing fancy or stylized. Just a plain font. Sometimes less is more |

|
I wouldn’t trade one of my m4 carbine lowers for it but I don’t mind it.
I don’t like it being engraved though. If this was a stamped roll mark I would definitely add one of these to the collection, being engraved I won’t be unless we get back down to rock bottom prices again. |
|
I never chased specific roll marks. As long as they make the rifles the same way I counldn’t care less what they leave the laser engraved saying(didn’t really care they stopped the roll marks either).
Now start bringing in or making some Colt Canada stuff domestically. Do we know if this means that it is now the CR6940? |
|
Don't understand why they didn't put Colt Carbine though, kinda rolls off the tongue- Colt Carbine
|
|
I'm glad they didn't use "Colt Carbine" because I have one of those rare babies.

That new "Carbine" lower looks odd to me. Like wearing shoes without socks; it's missing something.
|

I like how the markings are centered on the mag well, as is done on M16A2 variants. I like the Carbine model marking. It needs to be roll marked though. Engraving is terrible and gives it the appearance of a fake.
|
|
|
The engraving and lack of Colt lettering looks totally "sanitized" to me which appears to be the goal.
Cheers |

My new 6920 I bought in april ish from AU.....I noticed it said "2013 model," on the box.

Engraved instead or roll marked is what let me down the most.
Centered logo is a nice touch similar to the .mil guns Still no selector stops though But hey.. if it’s necessary in order to see Colt back in business I’m fine with it. |

Carbine...its genderless. Keeping with the times...go figure.

Agreed. It is about as creative as if they had just put "Gun" lmao. |

Good lord, the amount of changes on their lowers is insane. Hard to keep up.

Quoted: Carbine...its genderless. Keeping with the times...go figure. View Quote Yeah, they covered their bases with that one. Maybe that's why Colt did it... one lower generic enough for all of their upper variants. I don't like the look... but it may grow on me. Might consider grabbing one after panic subsides and price is right. |

The one I saw in a local LGS did not F marked front sight.
$1099. |
|
Colt is not marking front sight bases with an 'F' anymore because there is only one height of FSB being used now. So, 'F' marking serves no purpose.

Quoted: Don’t take it for a fact but I have heard that the 20” ar15a4 has been cancelled. I also don’t see the 6720 listed on the Colt site. View Quote That is my understanding. I spoke with one of the Colt dealers who had a call with Colt last week. EVERYTHING is moving to CR6920 and MPS-B and maybe an occaisional 6940. LE and Commercial. Evidently, Colt is still downplaying how many rilfes they can get into commercial distribution. Sounds like whenever there is a small window between foreign contracts, they can squeeze a few dozen in. From last years' announcement, the foreign military contracts were going to keep the rifle assembly line at capacity for 4 years. That means 3 years now. But, it's Colt. They could ramp-up 100s per month on the CR6920, but it seemed pretty firm that nothing else had a chance. The Vietnam seriries allededly is still moving forward, but have not seen one in a while. |

As weird as this may sound, I want one even though my safe is full of Colts. The roll mark sucks, but so do many of Colts.
