100/100 Libertarian.
Quoted:
It's a test designed to push a conservative into the Libertarian camp. I've taken several of those tests through the years, and always come out nearly 100% libertarian. My problem with Libertarians is that they have little to no guts on social issues. Their strongest response is, "Don't tell me what to do!" Well, now and then, somebody has to tell
SOMEONE what to do and what not to do, or we descend into anarchy as everyone does what is "right in their own eyes." It goes as small as putting up STOP signs
I guess you discount Emergent Order completely? Here is a good one:
Spontaneous Order. Were there no laws and just anarchy before the first time it was written down? Of course not. Laws were based on social norms that were well known by all. Sure, some ignored them, but isn't that also true now with our complex legal code?
and as big as defending Israel against our common enemies.
But a libertarian would belive that we should not depose elected governments and install dictators thus inspiring more people to become ourt enemy. See: Shah of Iran, and maybe soon Egypt... (The chileans don't seem to be too upset any more about that Pinochet thing...)
Libertarians have a hard time being consistent. They don't want you putting any limits on anything.....except where they agree that there need to be limits. It's a fairly naive political perspective.
i would like to see what example youare speaking of. The opposite of Libertarianism is Statism. And libertarian are consistent in that. You should be ableto find a good summary of "Law, Legislation and Liberty" by Hayek by googling. That may help to understand somethign that your posting indicates you do not.
