I don’t have first hand knowledge, but the federal ammo video that shows a LaRue chambered in 224, looks like a stealth profile to me. I hope to have that first hand knowledge someday soon, but for now it’s just another opportunity to regret no being on the buildAR list.

Confirmed by two members in the BuildAR thread who asked when they placed their order.
Take that for what it's worth, but I'm going with it. 5.56 Muzzle Brake - 1/2" x 28 threads Gas Block - .750 Rifle Length Gas Tube |

.....Okay, FWIW, here are the Grendel mag and 6.8/Valkyrie mag.....Both loaded with V rounds.... Attached File ....V mag in front...Bottom of mags are in line so you can see the difference in radius.... Attached File ...Seating of the rounds looks good.... Attached File ......Profile of the ribs are slightly different, but close..... .....Without the barrel/bolt there's no function check but the rounds stripped off both mags as close to identical as my uncalibrated fingers could measure, but that doesn't mean it will work reliably....... ....Now to patiently (?) wait for the Mothership to ship and a range trip to make the final call..... |

It would certainly be nice if Grendel mags work. Those 6.8 mags aren’t cheap. It always gets me when limited capacity mags cost more than standard.
Supply and demand and all, but damn. |

I’m thinking of using a toolcraft nitride carrier, SLR gas block, JP SCS heavy and Larue trigger to finish out the operating parts.

The lower is an Aero "Freedom" edition with a Magpul ACS-L stock and H buffer. I've got a couple of extra VG6 Epsilon muzzle brakes laying around and a couple of MBT triggers. For the BCG, I picked up some Nib FailZero M-16 carriers from Primary arms when they were blowing them out around the 4th of July last year, so I'll just swap the bolt into one of those. I need to order an aluminum dust cover from Strike Industries. Figured I'd give one of them a try since their polymer ones are the cat's ass. Low priority since it won't hold me up taking it out shooting. Eventually, I'll probably go ahead and get a LaRue Stealth 2.0 upper and handguard to throw it in. That way I can put it on my 5.56 LaRue lower and have a matching set. |

Looks like it's gonna be a shooter. Went up to the range last night after work. The top 4 rounds were my last shots after getting dialed in on a 6" target right at dusk. I managed to hold it together for 3, which is pretty good for me. The firing line went cold after that as some other guys went down to pack up their silhouettes. It was getting too dark to waste ammo after they got back. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/350199/ValkyrieTarget-482841.jpg View Quote |

Honestly, I'm sure it's a sub-moa barrel being shot by a 1.5+ moa trigger puller. I can hold it together for a few rounds, but then I tend to get in a hurry. The thing that impressed me was the fact I was using the "cheap" Federal 75gr TMJ round. I might have to grab another case of that. |

Hope they are still making the click adjustable gas port, makes the mid length 6.8 kick less than the carbine length 5.56's I have..... Maybe after I finish off the 94 Jeep YJ upgrades, I can build a .224 V upper. Still need to install lower gears and a locker. (And 30 spline axles in the Dana 35) |

They may make standard gas blocks, but not the click adjustable.. At least the last time I looked which was a year ago. Seems like they went in partners with a machine shop to build them, now the machine shop sells it's own click adjustable gas port that vents the extra gas to the atmosphere instead of just limiting the amount that goes to the bolt..... SLR may have another machinist making them by now, at least I hope so! I still want to stick one on the 7.62x39 carbine I built. Haven't had time to do diddly squat lately. Working lots of overtime and spending any free time fixing things on the Jeep. Getting close to done working on it for this year anyway. Just need to patch some rust on the windshield frame and install a new gasket underneath it. Well, and mount the winch....
I still need to try changing buffers in the 7.62x39 build and re-sight in three different rifles after scope swaps.... And save for a .224 V upper, and a Grendel upper (Since I know my C-Products 6.8 mags will work with them), And, and, and....... |

OK, my bad...
SLR still makes adjustable gas blocks.... I looked at the gas block on my 6.8 and it was a Superlative Arms adjustable..... I just checked on Midway USA and they are not even back-orderable. So they are the ones that are no longer being made.... Maybe I can find one in stock at some small store. I absolutely love mine!!!! |
