Yeah, its pretty sweet. That whole area is cool... lots of different parts to it as well.

That place was amazing 10 years ago. Unfortunately it has become extremely popular to the point of issuing permits to visit.

It was fairly clean given the number of people. There was the occasional cigarette butt or beer can pop top but compared to other popular places it wasn't bad at all. The only trash I found in the water was a drone that crashed and sunk.

I remember hiking to the spring area/dam itself.. the spot you used to be able to camp was utterly trashed. like people left broken tents, tarps, TP, cans, bottles, you name it.. all hiked in 4 miles too! You cant camp there anymore, now have to be further from the spring area. It all changed when they removed the dam about 10 years ago. |

I was there a few year ago, and it was pretty clean given how popular it was. That water is seriously cold. Had a green mojave rattlesnake tell me to fuck off from a few feet away on the way out.

We used to backpack up there in the late 70' early 80's.
It was clean back then and we tent camped. There was a flume that ran from the dam down to a power station. You could walk a good way on top of it on the way in. Hardly nobody went up there then. |

Haven't done Fossil yet, but I just did the hot spring this weekend. Neat area. Need to spend more time out there.
