Just testing waters to see if some abq folks would ever want to get together and do some shooting out in
BLM land/ rio puerco. Maybe bring a grill out there and have some dogs and shoot some targets or something. Anyone into that idea? Recommendations? |

We've done it in the past. It was fun.
I'm down if it's not to far. NM is a big state. |

So folks let’s get this going...
Let’s shoot for a Friday/Weekend in July? I’m thinking the weekend after the forth would be far out enough that we can accommodate that day. If folks can come on down to US 550 Bernalillo we can all head out to the BLM land from there and go shooting, plenty of spots but do bring a truck/suv the road is dirt and although accessible easily truck/suv is recommended. Who: Members and friends/family What: Shooting some targets out in the desert blm land (permitted area for shooting) Where: Meetup @ 1005 US-550, Bernalillo, NM 87004 warrior gas station for drinks/ snacks then head out. When:July 11 Noon What you should bring: Guns/Ammo/ targets. Bring what you normally would and let’s have some good range time. All interested parties RSVP in this thread and let’s get a headcount. Any recommendations feel free to suggest. Thanks and lookin forward to some good range time. |

How bad is the dirt roads? Not sure if my Altima is good or not.
I usually go to BLM near route 66/prison and don't have a huge issue driving the small way on dirt. |

View Quote It’s not super bad, it’s maintained. Just take it slow and you’ll be fine. You definitely won’t get stuck or high centered or anything, the road is just very bumpy/ washboard. Now if it was after rain that would be a different story. |

I’m in. Depending on available time off. You’re Altima will make it out there no problemo. I met Ben out at Cabezon like 8 years ago. Yeah, we’re overdue.

Been way, way, to long. It was you, me, VBFG, Franksymptoms, & a few others, I don't remember all who was there, can't believe its been that long. I'll see if I can make it but I work in a tax office now & the deadline is July 15th, so I wouldn't bet on it. KommandoK who is that in your avatar? I'd like to do some further research! |

I'm in. I've got a few steel targets that should make set up easy.
I think that we might be stuck without cook fires due to restrictions though. So, we should probably plan accordingly. |

Fuck. This is too late for me to join, i won't be home from AITin time.
Also, K is a wonderful place. |

View Quote Hey, no big deal. If the 11th works for more people, then great. Tammie Jo Shults, sounds like a hell of a woman! Nerves of steel to land that plane with a hole in it. I plan on ordering her book on the incident. Thank you. |

Can’t believe there’s not any more interest, no one wants to have a day of shooting??
No one wants to meet any like minded folks? |
|
It's always been like herding cat, trying to get people in NM together for a shoot. Sometimes the moon and stars align and it happens.
For me, Saturdays are hard to make. Sundays are better. |
|
For now, I can't do Sundays. I'm waiting on the Espanola range to call me back with a first time shooter safety orientation. It's only been 4 months.

I’m game, if we have a few people with del Norte or zia memberships that’s a option too.

View Quote I like the idea but currently lack an off road capable vehicle. Even better is I have 3 separate AR uppers that need to be zeroed and a 3 year old suppressor that hasn't had a single round fire through it yet I can make del norte or zia and I am going to see about getting access to a vehicle that can survive some mild off road driving. |
|
Lagtime, if the roads aren't too aggressive I can take you in a Nissan parts truck. We can throw your stuff in the bed and cover it with some straps and tarps.

I forgot about this thread.
I'll know if I can make it when it gets closer to the day. If someone needs to park a car, I live in the 550/unser area. the roads out there aren't that bad, dusty and washboard but nothing too bad. |
|
Pencil me in. Might be closing on my property in AZ at the time. But, the way things are going, who knows?

Looks like a lot more folks are chiming in, this is gonna be a blast! |

View Quote Hoping I can leave work on time some time soon so I can head out and check the roads out there but I'll definitely keep this in mind. I've got everything stuffed in a Pelican case so it's pretty easy to transport. Quoted: I’m being conservative with the road conditions, the road isn’t to bad. humm.
looking like I can make it, just gotta find some plinking ammo, as I don't wanna shoot up my good stuff till I can replace it. |

Did a little shooting in Ojito today.
Road is rough, washboards, but no where anyone would get stuck, but its gonna suck if your in a small car with sport suspension. Quite a few people out there today. Biting flys like crazy. I went to test out some tulammo, never tried it before but its what i could find. Weird pressure curve. Flat primers, my Tavor pulled the rim off one, but they don't seem particularly powerful. Like pressure drops off very fast. |

Quoted: Sounds good, I’ll bring some paper targets, cardboard, prolly a cooler with drinks. How many people are for sure coming? We need a headcount... View Quote 98% in. I have nothing scheduled so as long as nothing comes up I'll be GTG. Quoted: Did a little shooting in Ojito today.
