At work as usual.  Since everyone else is working from home I figure I'm as safe here as at home.  ISU is still open.  Sort of.  But it is slowly grinding to a halt.

At work as usual. Essential government job.  I get to have my temperature taken every day prior to working as well as answering a series of health questions... but at least I'm still working.  My wife is working from home and staying with our kids who can't go to school.  I hope this all blows over soon.

Work as usual. Just a slightly different schedule. My wife is getting screwed though. She graduated the Mortuary Science program at dmacc 2 weeks ago and can't take her boards until late April because the testing center is closed. No work for her until she can take and pass the boards

We were sent home and told to do all our training we could for the year and study for some upcoming certification classes a week ago today, and will re-access a week from today.

We got a dog last month and I think she was finally getting comfortable being here and learning our routine, thats been shot this week. When I eventually go back to work is going to kill her.

Been at home chillin’ with the wife and kids. No idea when we are going back...

Pretty much work as usual. We have some new rules though-

We are not allowed to load our own trucks at the gravel piles, they have a dedicated person running the loader so there isn't 30 different people in it.

Each shop(there are 11)is supposed to keep it's distance from people in the other shops so if someone gets sick it doesn't get spread to the others. They really don't even want the people in the same shop to be close to each other but that really isn't possible this time of year when we need to switch our equipment from winter to summer use and that requires two people. Once we jump in our trucks or graders then we are on our own.

Only good thing to come from this is the stupid safety meetings we have all the time are on hold for now. Also, tile repairs and other projects that require us to work close together are on hold so we are actually getting a bunch of time to work on our gravel roads and get them fixed up good.

My retirement has been deemed essential.  They sent me home in 2006 and I’ve been juggling spare time and naps ever since.  In between naps I’ve been getting parts together for upgrades to my Honda Pioneer 1000-5.  Shooting rests, new cup holders and such.  You get the picture.

Why do all this you ask?  Well, for the last 15 years I’ve been making a journey to Wyoming, at the behest of ranchers and friends, in an attempt to quell the annual outbreak of the Burrowing Black Tailed Range Rat.  It was hoped that the Carumba-19 virus would take down their numbers but this has proved to be wishful thinking.  The locals have already reported seeing numerous rodent-like heads peering from their tunnel openings chirping and communicating with each other.  It will only be a matter of time before the entire hoard emerges and begins organizing their foraging and digging.

I have assembled an elite team of specialists to assist with this operation.  In years past we have fired from benches in static positions.  That tactic resulted in numerous confirmed kills but recently those numbers dropped to an unacceptable level.  Playtime is over and that is where the Honda P1K-5 comes in.

We will now aggressively punch through their perimeter, gain fire superiority and at the same time eliminate as much of the threat as possible.  This will continue until around 1200 HRS daily at which time we will briefly cease operations for sandwiches, chips, a cold beverage and copious giggling.

This is thankless work my friends, but it must be done.  You may rest easier knowing that while sheltering in place I will continue to improve the combat readiness of the Honda and my individual equipment. You can all thank me later.  As for right now, this minute, a Barcalounger is calling me.

Until Valhalla

Work as usual until orders dry up. Actually worked out real well as my previous employer closed up on my last day there.

So far, my workload is up.  I now do everything from home that I did from work, and it takes more time to prep, for now.

I think I need to get hired on at Dave's job.

Still working selling ag / auto parts.  No confirmed cases of the plague in my county yet.  Farmers are getting stuff ready.
Business has been booming, but may soon slow down.  Other co-workers are getting the itch to be "fired", so they can stay at home.
Work has been so crazy lately, I'm ready for a forced shutdown to get some projects done.

Nothing has changed for the wife and I, still working.

Sucks man, hows she doing?

My bosses BIL was in close contact with someone who tested positive and now he has all the same symptoms but they refuse to test him because he's too young. Thats one way to keep the numbers down I guess.

Going to work as usual, temp checks at the gate. Almost never go out anyway so really nothing has changed for me. One of the biggest inconveniences for me so far, is that walmart is no longer open 24 hours a day. (Poor me right)

Me and my wife are pretty healthy so I'm not concerned in the slightest about getting infected. If I do then so be it. I am slightly concerned about older folks though and respect them if they want to stay home and take some steps to remain healthy.

The numbers are laughable at best and malicious at worst.

I'm much more concerned at people's willingness to give up essential liberty for temporary security.  Especially the church. I'm Angry and seriously considering starting my own "illegal" home church.

If there is any good in this, it may be that a lot of people might realize that the government respects the bill of rights about as much as a criminal respects a no guns allowed sign. I heard that analogy and thought it was pretty good.

*Edit to add quotation mark's to the word illegal

Had to walk from one side of campus to the other this morning (Gen'l Services Building to Durham for you ISU folks) to pick up a loaner computer.  As I walked past the library I looked around.  I didn't see a soul on central campus.  It was like a cheesy horror movie where everyone vanished  and I was the sole surviving human.  It was weird.

Almost all the buildings are locked.  Mine is one of the few exceptions.  Work is slow as hell (I'm an accountant).  There are still a few holdouts on campus but I'm guessing 90% or more are "working" from home.  Don't get me started on WFH.

Not much changed at work, but we field techs are doing a LOT more driving due to flight cancellations.  Availability of decent food on the road sucks.  Some states (PA) mandate masks full time.  Friggin' grocery stores have a low limit on number of customers allowed inside, leading to 45 minute plus wait to get in.  Screw that!  Delivery options of any food are limited as well.  I hope this virus paranoia ends soon.
