Slated to pretty much miss Helena.  I have been disappointed we have not had more snow yet.  I am ready to do some back country skiing, and Stemple does not have enough for even snow shoes yet.  I broke down this year and bought a snow blower too.  Not that I get a ton in the north valley like I did in Wolf Creek, but the wind sets it like concrete.

I am enjoying the nice days too. :D

I hope it misses us completely. I have a new gun that needs to be shot.

Lots of grey days in my parts, but very little snow so far, perhaps an inch.  But this year so far is pretty much a dud, which I am a bit surprised with.  Last year at this time, we had received over 2 feet.

Buddy of mine sent me this yesterday. Makes sense. There was a nip in the air in the area yesterday.

The news reported that Missoula has had 11" so far making that the most in a November since 1996, and temps this month have been below normal. I think the northern Bitterroot has had a little less snow since town got nailed by a snow band in a storm a week or so ago and we didn't get that here.

The inversions seem to have come early this year with freezing fog.

Meteorological winter (Dec, Jan & Feb) begins tomorrow and it feels/looks like it.

One more trip to the range tomorrow before calling it quits for the winter.

Hoping this will push some ducks in. Not much on the Missouri yet.

40 degree's and rain here in the far East.

That should turn into some lovely ice by this evening/overnight.

Light snow flurries all day, probably up to about 2" total so far, but I understand suppose to cool off tonight and start drying up for us for a few days here in the NW

We did end up with about 4" here in the foothills around Kalispell out of this last storm, not a big deal, but annoying when you have not got everything done outside you wanted to!

29 deg. at the range today, but not fog today like the previous week. Hate that crap.

Would rather have snow than inversion fog.

May hit the range again this week.  Trying to get more toy time in before the arctic stuff inevitably hits.

I'd say about 4-6" over here.

Kinda a nice sight, was getting a bit depressing looking at all the brown.

The northern Bitterroot valley got ~5" on the 24th and another 1-2" on Xmas.  More up higher.

-19 in Butte this morning and we got 6" of snow yesterday,

We got ~6" more last Sat & Sunday, and a skiff yesterday, before the cold front moved in. Easy to move with a push broom.

Single digits for lows and made it to 14 deg. today in the northern Bitterroot.

Helena North Valley did ok, and the temps have been above zero so far.  I do thank that storm as we finally have enough snow up on Stemple Pass for some back country skiing! Before this it was iffy if you needed snow shoes or not! LOL  Decent snow too, about a foot or so in most places.  We did not get to do the full trail we like as I started to see gravel more an more in blown spots.

The roads in Billings suck! If you have to go anywhere drive slow and give yourself plenty of stopping distance.

Roommate and I had some errands to run for the majority of the morning. Started out in 4wd, by the time we go home around 1 pm-ish, Main/1st was starting to get pretty bare.
I had to go back out and seems that most of the main drags are back to asphalt as of 7pm. Residential streets still suck though.

Bright side it's supposed to be mid 40's the next few days so maybe what we have will melt off.

It's warmed up enough in the N. Bitterroot to turn the side streets into slush so other than the mess at least its' not a sheet of ice any more.

But still a good bit of snow in the yards.

Melting fast at 4600 feet here in the Flathead, after this weekend I might be seeing the yard again!

I think this is the mildest winter I've seen during my 30 years or so in the Flathead.

If it is anything like last year we wont see winter until mid Febuary and it will stick around until mid April...

Winter always seems to break in mid-March in the Bitterroot.

It was beautiful here. Walked around town in the sun without a hat. Had to pull off the gloves and unzip the jacket after a bit. No wind at all.

Got my first bike ride in of the year. Still dirty, sloppy and wet in several places but made it to the Co. line & back this afternoon. Abit windy coming from the west off the Bitterroots.

Winter has yet to make an appearance in the south end of the bitterroot. Yesterday it was 60 degrees and today i think it was 50. Its snowed 3 times here with less than 2 inches being the norm. Suck part is i bought snow tires for my car for the first time and this might be the first year since iv been here that it makes no difference whether you got them or not.

Well was nice again here in the Flathead, west of Kalispell, bit of wind this morning and made it to 50 degrees, and now it is snowing a little, but all in all the last couple of days was like spring.

Light snow, a bit windy out of the north, and steadily dropping sub-32 temps in the N. Bitterroot.  Got a dusting so far, starting the middle of the night. We'll see what happens the next two days.

Temps here dropped from ~24 this morning to 12 right now with ~20mph winds. Snow picked up considerably & probably got around ~2", but most is going sideways heading south down the valley.

predicted 6-8",  maybe 1" actually.

The 40+ temp drop was spot on though.

It was 8 with blowing snow when I started shoveling at 1130. When I got done at 1430 it was 5 and blowing, but snow had backed off some. It's now 3 and lightly snowing. My app says 23mph sustained. It's cold.

Total at my place, 8" was -1 this morning, I couldn't keep up with it yesterday, got it clean this morning.

The winds died down over night but there was an extra 1/2" of snow at 0730 this morning. Got that cleaned off then a squall came thru and dropped another 1" before things cleared up and sunny. Again with very light winds. Still in the single digits temp wise.

5.4 degrees here now, sun out and no wind, last night was a pain, 20 mph wind and about -1 temp and on top of it the damn 4WD in the truck quit working, so it is parked about a mile from the house!

Is that the vehicle you had to have yanked out of a snowbank or something last year?
