Going to have a couple free days in this area. Will there be any private or public ranges for rifle / pistol?

I've travelled to the east side of Grayling from Traverse City for about 20 uears.  I haven't specifically looked for places to shoot because I own my own, and also shoot state land.

There's the Supply Rd DNR range, near Fife Lake, but I know of nothing else other than private clubs you'd have to join, or shooting on state land.

How do I find State land locations?

Do we need daily permits for use?

No permit, just make sure you're shooting in a safe place and at a TARGET. Without a target, you're "hunting". I've been waved at by law enforcement, but never spoken to.

Grayling area DNR may be able to point you to a location, they will in the TC area.

There's a gravel pit i remember, that I'll have to locate tomorrow for lack of time now.  It aint too far west of Grayling.  Clearly been used by others, and was being used when I was there.

The places I go are for long range stuff, and took me a lot of time to locate and recon.  Not exactly easy to find something like that in a weekend.

There is state land all around.

Fletcher and Maple is one area.
