Hypothetical but probably in the next 5-10 years we will be leaving California. My wife likes Wyoming due to the taxes but she's not crazy about really high altitude seeing as we have lived at sea level so long. Also she wants to be somewhere closer to reasonable medical care just in case.

I don't think any such place exists in Wyoming. So where are some good places to live in Wyoming?

What is her definition of reasonable medical care?

Heart attack, cancer care, all the worst case scenarios. She wouldn’t live someplace without a trauma center.

Wyoming has excellent coverage by air medical to get you to where you need, be it really big hospitals in Denver, SLC or reasonably big hospitals in Billings.

Just get sorted out with air medical membership with both AirMed Care and AirMethods and you will be good to go any place in the state, this way you have a plan and a back up plan, both are cheap being less than $60/year.

I just got the thing in the mail and it's $1100 for 25 years of coverage.

I say this in all of these threads. Cheyenne will be the downfall of the entire state, as our political capital.
Cheyenne does everything shy of getting on their knees to be part of Colorado. Greenies move there in droves to escape the front range and the state taxes. With the influx of Coloradoans, the constant drone for more amenities, roundabouts, restaurants, schools, housing, etc., keeps getting louder and louder.

With these amenities, it becomes more attractive to more people, and more population always leads to Socialism. It doesn't matter how conservative the population starts out. You, Mr. MAGA Gun owner moves here from the front range, or back east, or west coast to escape. Your wife and kids rarely enjoy the move because it's windy, cold, and there is "nothing" to do. Bored housewives and soccer moms with nothing to do find things to do. She gets pissed because The Hereford ranch smells on hot days, and starts a petition. She, and her other like minded friends, sit at the soccer field and come up with the idea that they do not like Hunter's ed being taught in schools, or thinks the 4H and Ag department needs to give up funding for the arts, or a new soccer field, or schooltrips to Denver for "culture".

Next thing you know, more restaurants and stores open, more people move in. Businesses transfer employees from Southern California, Boston, Philadelphia, etc. They freak out when Joe has his coyote rifle in his pick-up gun rack. Some are not fond of Open carry, or constitutional carry here, because it's scary, and "we didn't need that where we came from, and felt safer". She's pissed because Wyoming doesn't honor gay marriage, and convinces the PTA to de-fund shop class in lieu of diversity curriculum.

Those of us that have lived here for a long time see the transformation happening before our eyes in Cheyenne. So goes the Capital, so goes the state. We hate the influx of people into Cheyenne, and view 2 County tags as bad as Colorado or California. It sickens us to watch the city leaders begging to become part of the Front Range.

Within 10-20 years Cheyenne will have killed off one of the best states in America.
