It's hard to watch the news these days and get an accurate report.

Is it true that Florida is right now drafting new gun control legislation that will essentially be your AWB? I read reports about banning bump stocks... what does bump stocks have to do with all that's been going on?

Rick Scott won't sign any weapons ban, and actually called for the FBI director to resign after fouling up the Cruz investigation, or lack thereof.

We're gonna have to wait until the next election to see what's gonna happen; right now, we're in good shape.

FL can't do sheet right now. IF anything comes up it won't be till after the next governor which is likely going to be a democrat.

Thank God for the red counties in the panhandle! Might see a magazine size restriction or an age increase to buy rifles in the future. but thats prolly the extent of it.

The Red Counties in the Panhandle aren't that secure. The demographic shift of South Floridians fleeing north to retire plus the mass migration of Boricua from PR and the possibility of convicted felons getting the vote isn't good.

On top of that. The FL GOP is not gun friendly.

We've had a twenty year GOP Supermajority and it is the GOP that kills Pro Gun Bills every year by siding with the Democrats.

We're soooo fucked when the full effects of demographics shifting happens along with redistricting in 2020 due to the mass migration.

Incoming Senate President Bill Galvano (R) wants to push a bump stock ban, make three day waits state wide for long guns, make long gu  purchases 21 and over, and push gun restraining orders.

Sen. Baxley (R) and Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Stuebe (R) chickened out and pulled thae campus carry bill from receiving a vote.

A number of Florida Republican law makers are looking at throwing Florida Gun Owners under the bus for political expediency and need for favorable lime light to keep their seats with the 2018 election coming in November.

Incoming Senate President Bill Galvano (R) has stated that he favors gun control.

"You have a history in the state of trying to be very balanced in the approach of the Second Amendment,"

"There are also political realities that we have to consider. I think taking these steps are what we need to be doing now."
View Quote
He wants to restrict all long gun purchases across the State to twenty one years of age and install a mandatory waiting period for all long guns purchases. A ban on bump stocks included. Additionally he wants to remove the exemption Florida Conceal Carry Permit Holders have with the State Waiting Period and make all permit holders go through a three day waiting period.

Lastly, Galvano wants to give law enforcement the power to seize firearms from individuals that have been Baker Acted and hold those firearms until the individual is "deemed" no longer a threat.

(Note  Baker Acting a person does not require a court order, thus someone's civil rights would be violated with said person not having a chance to defend their rights in a court of law.)

Eric Friday of Florida Carry said that the idea of what Bill Galvano wants to push is a "non-starter" and will draw a law suit.

_________

As previously mentioned, prominent Republican Donor Al Hoffman Jr. has stated that he will not support any Pro Second Amendment candidates.

"For how many years now have we been doing this  having these experiences of terrorism, mass killings  and how many years has it been that nothing's been done?"

"It's the end of the road for me."
"I will not write another check unless they all support a ban on assaultweapons,"
"Enough is enough!"

It appears his threat might already be carrying weight through the Florida GOP.

_____

Sen. Baxley & Sen. Steube

Sen. Dennis Baxley (R) and Senate Judricary Commitee Chair Gred Steube (R) have capitulated to the pressures of the Gun Grabbers.

Sen. Baxley was in the process of re-introducing his Campus Carry bill that would allow Teachers and Staff of K-12 school with CCW permits to carry on campus and protect their students but it was pulled from the committee.

Sen. Baxkey stated;

"The chairman of the Judiciary Committee [Sen. Greg Steube (R)] and I have concurred and agreed that the best thing for us is to pull it off of the agenda at this point,"

"We're not ready for this discussion. We want to fully investigate every option that we have to deal with school safety."

_____

Marco Rubio, Florida's Republican Voice in Congress has also sided with the Gun Grabbers by saying that the State Legislature should look at Democrat backed 'red flag" style gun laws.

Sen. Rubio said on Miami's CBS 4 Sunday morning show with host Jim DeFede that state legislators should "absolutely" look at enacting a SB-530; which would enable law enforcement officials and citizens to get a restraining order to remove guns from a person who is reported to law enforcement as a danger. Sen. Rubio told Miami CBS affiliate WFOR that it's an "example of a state law" that could have helped prevent the Florida shooting.

FL SB-530: Risk Protection Order Act

Risk Protection Orders; Creating the "The Risk Protection Order Act"; authorizing risk protection orders to prevent persons who are at high risk of harming themselves or others from accessing firearms; requiring law enforcement agencies to develop certain policies and procedures by a certain date; requiring the termination of a license to carry a concealed weapon or firearm that is held by a person subject to such an order, etc.

This bill is authored by Sen. Audrey Gibson (D) and sure is in line with what Sen. Bill Galvano wants to happen and what Sen. Rubio is endorsing.

______

Lastly, Brian Ballard, a powerful lobbyist who was a major fundraiser for President Donald Trump's campaign and is close to Florida Governor Rick Scott stated that Florida Republicans are under a pressure to act and that young voters could be a pivotal swing in the 2018 election.

"It's always easy to throw out the gun issue if you want to demagogue. I do think politicians are going to be in trouble if they don't react to make sure schools are safe and to make sure our criminal justice authorities are talking to each other."
View Quote
With busloads of students across the State riding to the State Capitol and the Leon County School Board excusing all absences from students on Wednesday to protect at the Capitol

(Leon County is Tallahassee, the State Capital)

Ballard is very much correct in that gun rights are being made a target and that law makers are under fire.

Marion Hammer, current NRA Lobbyist for Florida and past NRA President stated in regards to making it 21 to buy a long gun.

"We cannot take a position on a piece of legislation that we have not seen,"

"We have not seen a draft. We have not been told officially and, until we know, we cannot take a position."

The Anti-Freedom Legislation is excepted to be unveiled this Thursday (Feb. 22, 2018). The proposal was advanced and supported by incoming Senate President Bill Galvano (R).

Along with wanting to restrict all long gun purchases across the State to twenty one years of age. Sen. Galvano wants to install a mandatory waiting period for all long guns purchases. A ban on bump stocks included and he wants to remove the exemption Florida Conceal Carry Permit Holders have with the State Waiting Period and make all permit holders go through a three day waiting period.

Eric Friday of Florida Carry said that the idea of what Sen. Galvano wants to push is a "non-starter" and will draw a law suit.

"If we're going to have a discussion about what would have prevented this situation, we need to look objectively at all of the failures that occurred before we look at placing more restrictions on law-abiding citizens,"
View Quote
Eric Friday also stated that he does not support any provision that would allow people to have their rights taken away if someone asks a judge for a "gun violence restraining order" to take away their weapon if they are deemed dangerous.

"We can't support it until we see it has sufficient protections,

As a NRA Member and a Floridian, I personally question why the NRA will not outright take a position this very moment. Sen. Galvano has already stated what he intends to submit to the legislature and it is 100% against the founding principles of our nation and society.

Look... prevention without the loss of our civil rights.

The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office arrested an 18 year old after receiving an anonymous tip of a threatening video circulating on Snapcatch. For those that don't know; Wakulla County is just 20 minutes south of Tallahassee, home of Florida's Capitol.

The video WCSO investigators saw showed person's hands opening a case containing a rifle, the rifle being removed from the case and loaded with a magazine all with the caption "Don't go to school."

According to WSCO Press Release; on Monday at 4:14 p.m., deputies received an anonymous tip. Detectives and uniformed deputies from the Sheriff's Criminal Investigations Division identified video as originating from Kane Watson, an 18 year old resident of Crawfordville, FL. Arriving approximately 45 minutes from the time of the original complaint; they made contact with Watson and mirandized him.

Waston admitted to posting the video and voluntarily turned over his cell phone and rifle to investigators. Waston was charged with violating the following Florida Statutes:

F.S. 836.10, Written Threats to Kill or do Bodily Injury, a second degree felony.

F.S.790.163, False Report concerning planting a bomb, an explosive, or a weapon of mass destruction, or concerning the use of firearms in a violent manner, a second degree felony.

He was take into custody and booked at the Wakulla County Jail.

As an area resident, I applaud WCSO and their quick action. They actually handled the tip and information correctly. They tasked resources, investigated the possible threat, and took action. Unlike what the Broward County Sheriff's Office and the FBI did.

Once again....

Wayne LaPierre And Chris Cox said;

Marion Hammer then stated;

Marion Hammer: NRA Never Wanted Legal Machine Guns, Bump Fire Stocks

The "bump-stock" device, used by the killer in the Las Vegas shooting, converts a semi-auto rifle to a full-auto rifle. Anyone who has ever used a bump-stock or watched a video demonstrating its use, can only conclude that it is a converter.

In spite of the seemingly noble reason the manufacturer claims for developing it, the bump-stock circumvents federal law. Regardless of the quality and reliability or lack thereof of this device  it converts a semi-auto to full-auto when installed.

Do you have any idea how many people were shocked out of their minds when ATF decided bump-stocks were not subject to regulation and APPROVED them for sale and use? That was under the Obama administration for crying out loud. Your mind is forced to run wild wondering why.

Make no mistake, the NRA has NOT cleared the way for more regulation. If it were not for ATF's wink and nod to the manufacturer of the bump-stock, it would already be regulated under federal law. NRA has tossed it back into ATF's lap where it belongs. NRA has not agreed to any new legislation nor has NRA said we agree with any existing NFA legislation. NRA has not agreed to a ban. NRA has not agreed to anything. NRA simply insists upon enforcing existing law.

And before folks say that Marion Hammer wasn't speaking for the NRA. She sent that out in an official NRA email blast to NRA members. She very much made that statement as an official position and spokesperson for the NRA.

HERE IS MY STATEMENT ON BUMPSTOCKS

For now indeed. This will be an on-going fight.

I see a push for "bumps-stocks" and after-market triggers AND a magazine capacity ban coming out of this if we don't fight hard.

The push needs to stop gun free school zones..

Placed armed guards on the school grounds, Start making mental illness the issue and making sure funding is in place to fix the issue, Start having schools deal with bullying its a major issue that is just ignored.

60 years of liberal views and teaching in schools has created this mess.. Bring back values and religion back into our lives.

Those officials that they buy and sell are obvious due to their resultant action on behalf of the money men.
