What is with the CO DOT and its lane closure on I-25 between CO Springs and Pueblo? It took over an hour to creep through that logjam. It was on both directions too.

My theory is that the cone guys (the contractors who close off lanes) get paid by the cone. so for miles and miles they cone up for one dude in a pickup on 10 feet off the road.
everybody needs their kickbacks. It's a big club and we ain't in it. |

They’ve been working that median for a long time but I see no indication of what they’re doing or why it’s taking so damn long.
First post just may have nailed it. |

The mob is fickle, brother.

I was stuck in it from 11:00 thru 12:20. I saw 2 guys sitting on the back of a truck. It was the cause of the north side of the 6 mile back up! The south side was 5 guys looking at a guard rail but only 2 miles, most drivers flipped them off by that time.

They were not working this morning. North bound cones were all picked up. No equipment any where to be seen if that helps.

I always point out to my kids as we approach construction work like that, "Watch- How many workers will be standing around doing nothing?" And sure enough, you'll have one or two actually doing something and a circle of 10 drinking coffee and shooting the breeze. And then I explain to them that we are paying them with our taxes. For us, its the endless work on the 470.

OK, went up anyway. Smooth from Pueblo (exit 102) up to Woodsman (150) and back.
