Land Navigation Exercise:

Had a good day in the mild rain today, going over some of the fundamentals of land navigation and running the local orienteering course. Had a turnout of about a squad with some new faces. Topics covered were:

Reading military style maps

Using the MGRS and plotting points

Using a compass to determine azimuths

Terrain association. The use of collecting and catching features

How to conduct a resection and an intersection

American Pioneer Corps

A relatively new group made up of battle buddy regional groups that is akin to a mashup of boy scouts for adults and leadership development.

Great group of people.

In March, a few of us in Washington around the snoho/king area started doing the hikes and we've done some medical, shooting, pt test, land nav, obstacle courses, ham radio.

@tnc was the first guy local

Now its growing.
