I decided to go on a "little" hike today up to the summit of Wasson Peak and thought I would share.

It was my first time hiking up there.  For those that don't know, the summit of Wasson Peak is the highest point in the Tucson Mountains.

My route was a loop that ran about 3.5 miles up and around 4.5 back down.  At almost 1900 feet of elevation gain, going up kicked my ass.

It was a really nice hike though.  Windy at the top but the views were great.

Here's looking southeast at the Tucson Mountains.  That's Cat's Back at center right.

Looking at the Silverbells to the North.

The Rincons, the Santa Catalinas, and the cesspool known as Tucson to the East.

This one is looking South toward the Desert Museum.  My start and end point was right across the street from the museum.  This pic was taken about 1/2 mile down from the summit as there is another peak that blocks the southern view when on Wasson.  The buildings in the center are the museum.

I'm not much of a sports fan, particularly when it comes to the NFL, so today seemed like another great day for a hike.

This time, Madera Canyon.  Specifically, Bog Springs - Sylvester Spring Loop Trail.  It was about 6 miles and 2000ish feet of elevation gain with an unintentional detour.

There's still some snow up there.

Cactus at 6700ish feet.
