So sad - his wife has died from injuries sustained in the accident. They are next door neighbors of my aunt and uncle.

Prayers for the families.

Update: Rod has passed away as well. Both he and Jim Fyffe lost to tragedy in their prime. (Fyffe died from a brain aneurysm in 2003).

This is hard, because I used to announce football as well, although not at the same level. I met and talked with Rod at a benefit sports banquet once, and we swapped announcing stories. He was a down to earth guy, and got a lot of laughs from my stories, even though I was an amateur by comparison. I modeled my "touchdown" call after his and Jim's.

This is devastating, and half of my Auburn football memories have his voice attached to it.   HE WAS AMAZING at his job!

RIP Rod, and your beautiful wife.   There is no replacing you friend!
