They’ll need a bigger system to handle all of the law abiding gun owners that they will soon turn into felons with the stroke of a pen.

I don't think we have much to worry about in this regard. Let me explain why.

When you go to court and get charged with something, it sets a precedent for future cases of similar crimes. The problem with this is that you have rights to escalate it upwards to a higher court, and eventually to the SOCTUS if you can. In California, even though they have some of the strictest gun laws in the country, they're not exactly charging people willy nilly. Take for example the recent case where the guy was making AR15 lowers. His lawyer was smart enough to find out that AR15s aren't exactly what they define as a firearm. It caused so much problems that they let the guy go on a very easy deal so they don't have to go to court and possibly get the NFA repealed.

In NY, it's very similar. They actually had a case go to SOCTUS and they got it dropped by passing a new law that removes it. Very similar cases and situations in NJ, NY, and elswhere. They aren't exactly slamming people with these laws. Most of the cases that get successful is where they get caught with a 30+ rounder which I've been advocating heavily on this forum to get some 10 rounders so you can be safe at the range. They're not going after people who violate the feature bans such as stocks or evil flash hiders. It's so rare that the only place it's working is in NYC and 90% of the state isn't enforcing any of the laws in fear of someone being able to get it in front of the SOCTUS. So far, the SOCTUS only ruled that states can regulate magazines but a recent CA case ruled the numbers were arbitrary so it might not stick soon.

In MA, I heard they don't even check if your rifle is in compliance because they're so worried about people being able to push it up to the SOCTUS.

So with that said, I don't think in Virginia they're going to just go after anyone. It's merely a crap show. They'd need to add it on top of other criminal charges so that way they can't set a precedent on a case and potentially get it found unlawful.

Basically VA is passing laws that aren't going to be enforced any time soon. I would be more worried about your ability to buy NEW items than your ability to retain what you have. In all cases, you can probably keep it and they're not going to be busting your doors down to take it.

We're in a critical turning point in VA. 2021 is the year where the dems are testing their power and foothold in our state. Last year, they were hesitant only because they were worried about THIS year. Post election and going into our state's first statewide election that doesn't involve Trump or outside politics. This will be the truest test to see if Virginia is really deep blue or not. With that said, if the dems win the State senate big this year (that is gain seats) you can expect 2022 to have a successful AWB push regardless of VCDL's pressure on the senate. Again the only reason no big gun control pushes made this year is not because of covid-19 but because they know it is election year and they need to stay lowkey and push out some of the socialist reforms that people won't remember about November. They're hoping by staying quiet, they can get a smaller increase of blue voters out and keep moderate voters voting for them. They're hoping we stay home and forget about it.

Get out and vote this November.

We did not even have state Appellate courts until the early 1970s.
