The summaries of the rules that they put on the website and in the digest are notoriously bad.

Go here:  Fis 300 and scroll down to Fis 302.01(g).

“(g)  Taking shall be done subject to the following:

        (1)  Shotguns between 10 and 20 gauge, inclusively, with shot size of #2 and smaller shall be the only firearms and shot permitted;”

IIRC there used to be a season for bow with turkey as well but it's been 25 years since I've done any hunting or fishing.

I’d like to shoot one with a handgun as well, sadly the reg says no. I bet a ruger bisley 44 special or 327 would be a great turkey gun!
