Well, since most of us survived the Great Texas Deep Freeze, I figured we could try another Arf get together. I was thinking maybe this Saturday at high noon. That seemed to work out pretty well last time.
As for the venue, I think @Neshomamench had planned to have a shoot at his place but that fell thru. So, we're back to a food place with outdoor seating. Brewster's on Holly Road was pretty good and it's literally 200yds away from the Sharpshooter range. There's also Salty Oak BBQ over on Alameda that has a decent amount of outdoor seating. (Alameda is one of the worst roads to drive on though.) There's also the On the Border on SPID that has outdoor seating. I'm open to suggestion on venue. I figured we could do a group AAR on our escapades (or lack thereof) from last week. I can bring some interesting things in that regard. I can also bring radios and/or laptop to program other folks' Baofengs. |

Tell me about it. I'd like to go, depending on the final date you settle on. This weekend's out but I'm clear after that

I spoke to the operator of Frank’s Spaghetti House at 2724 Leopard after our last meet up. We could be indoors in our own area away from the sound of traffic and out of the elements. There’s a chance for rain this weekend but they can set up tables on an uncovered patio if that’s desired.
They are open for lunch on Saturdays. They serve beer, wine, Italian food, sandwiches and pizza. If Frank’s is voted down, you’re not going to hurt my feelings. Just a suggestion. Full disclosure, my daughters work there. I get nothing for our attendance. I also have two new radios and would like them programmed. |

Quoted: Salty Oak is amazing and I like Franks. View Quote True, but I don't think your Viper could handle Alameda and certainly not the ridiculous pit they have running along their curb. I have a Jeep and it's not a pleasant experience just to get in their parking lot to park. But, their BBQ is quite good, especially the smoked turkey. Their brisket was excellent over the weekend, much better than the last couple of times I had it. Franks sounds like it could be good. |

fwiw, I probably will not bring my Baofeng - but I would like a list of the frequencies so I can program them into a different radio(s). Hell, I have a programing cable for my Baofeng, so even a copy of the file could be helpful.
Eventually I probably need to get comfortable enough with my radios to have files saved so I can dump the local files into them while I am traveling. The Baofeng is currently programed with another group and I don't have the file to easily flip back and forth (they programed close to 100 radios that time - it was a nightmare, the files worked about 3 out of 4 times, the rest were done manually). Baofengs are cheep enough, my strategy right now is to have different radios depending on where I am. It's lazy, but it works at the moment. --- I am trying to keep track of Boca Chica - but with any luck they will launch before Saturday. Damn, just checked. Apparently the flight windows for Thursday and Friday were cancelled. So far road closures are not scheduled for the weekend... Well that could change, but maybe next week for the launch? |

I would love to watch a launch. Are you saying you expect one next week?

Not sure if I can make it down to Corpus Christi tomorrow. Still working on some PVC pipe issues here. |

On Reddit they say Wednesday is looking the best. I am n Corpus @ 2.5 hours away so as long as we have a couple hours heads up can make it. thanks |

There are flight plans for Mon/Tue/Wed.
SpaceX doesn't publish a schedule so its all guessing. ETA: If you can leave at a moments notice, you can probably get here in time. Biggest risk is that you get here and they don't launch. |

I haven’t been on here in months and just logged on to see I missed this. Maybe next time.
