You should hike it. Row/paddle the Nuese river alternate route.
Fair warning, it’s a bitch. A 24 mile water carry in the mountains, Down east, half the water is brackish. The outer banks? I was drinking 4+ gallons of fluids a day, being an idiot and got there in August.
On average, less than 10 people finish it every year.
It's on my bucket list.... I have done the Haywood portion several times. It is a bitch.......
Cool, I have been on it in the Linville Gorge area, and Wilson creek.
What are the best 30-50 mile sections for scenery?
I would say segment 2 is pretty awesome, and the western part of segment three.
Segment 4, where the linville gorge is, and Wilson creek, is my favorite though. I wish I had taken 6 days, instead of 4 to travel that 75 miles. And taken my fly rod as well of course.
