It has been 15 - 30 below every morning at 7am in my area for the past week or more and this morning I got a break with a balmy zero degrees!  The fuel oil companies are apparently overwhelmed by calls for deliveries and there was a line of folks with gas cans waiting to pump some for themselves at the gas station yesterday.  The weather guy is talking about the potential for a good snowfall and high winds causing potential power outages in the next few days ahead of even colder weather behind the storm.

How are you guys holding up?

Hey Lawyerman..
It's been exceptionally cold here for this early in the year.
I'm used to a week or so of -10 to -25 somewhere in mid January
It's been under zero for part of every day since the 22nd Dec.
It's 6 below here right now and f'cast to hit 20 by mid day
Sure is putting an early hurt on my woodpile.
I guess after this snow event we plunge back into sub zero for awhile.
Make sure to check on any elderly neighbors and shut-ins you know.
Extreme cold takes it's toll on the older folk.
Aside from that.. all's well in the downeast region.
Stay warm guys...

I actually like the cold for some reason. I would have gone hiking this weekend but I'm down with a cold myself.

Saddleback on January 14th last year, it was almost too much for me with the wind and not having long underwear:

Just got home and my whole house is frozen. Damn.
Now I need to find a space heater for the crawl space.

Well, it looks like the real frigid spell has broken..
17 on the plus side in the downeast region.
We might see a little snow and rain this week..
That'll make a good slushy mess of everything.
Only 71 days till spring

That, and the harsher the winter the better spring feels!
