And NC continues the slide towards a blue state.  Anyone else not surprised?

Wake County elected almost 100% Democratic candidates.

Sheriff Donnie Harrison unseated.

Sheriff Mike Andrews unseated. (Not surprising)

The last Republican district court judge unseated in Durham.

Historical monuments destroyed and the vandals walk without punishment.

How much longer before we become a true socialist paradise?

Or start to tar and feather the elected officials... Only have to do it once the message would be very clear.

This is why I laugh when I read threads (on any gun board I frequent) that ask "I'm Thinking Of Moving To NC, Tell Me About It" and the response is "It's a Great Conservative State".

I can only guess these replies are from folks that have moved here recently from either the west coast or from the northeast.

While we are not the most restrictive state, I would not consider NC "gun friendly" nor would I even consider it any shade of conservative anymore.

Even in the rural areas, as some of these "progressives" spread out into the less populated areas, I answer calls for "person with a gun" that turn out to be a hunter or just locals plinking.

Funny, when you make contact with the folks reporting the call, how shocked they are that people can "just shoot guns".  Sometimes they're shocked they "can just shoot anywhere on their own property".

What a sad commentary on NC.

Local elections, in the triangle anyway, have always been Democrat or nothing. 9 times out of 10 you have to vote in the primary to get any kind of change.

This statement used to be the norm.  I have heard that you need to be a registered democrat to vote in any primary until that statement gave me the shits.  We started a voter drive and got a lot of republicans elected in Bladen county.  Just got a second term sheriff and county reps are re-registering republican because of the numbers.  Still having a problem with the unafil crowd.  Most people do not realize we have a three party system,  rightwing, leftwing and chickenwing.  Stand up and be counted,  if this post upset someone, GOOD.

I used to be a registered Democrat because of the local elections until you could register as unaffiliated  and pick your primary ballot in the primaries.

the Durham County sheriff election was a shit show from the beginning.  The northern half of the county elected a write in candidate...had he had more representation in the southern part of the county he might have won

You're not going to want to hear this, but I'm moving to NC next year from NY. :) That said, I know what can happen and plan to vote accordingly. Concerning not being "gun friendly", is there anything we can't have? Other than some paperwork, everything that's not allowed in NY is allowed in NC. Open carry is allowed, and concealed (with license) doesn't have the restrictions that NY does. Even though it took me over a year to get my CC license in NY, I'm only allowed to have it on me to and from the range. After what happened lately though, with the Democrats in other states running so hard on bans and stiff gun control, I do wonder how much longer NC will be free of such things. It would be rather ironic to get all those freedoms back with my move, only to have to epoxy and rivet my magazines again a couple years later.

Coming from NY..I moved to FLA and hated it was not impress with the laws in FLA at all compared to NC.. I lasted 9 months in FLA (west coast) and will never go back there.

I enjoy NC and "freedoms" I live on the coast by Camp Lejeune and its a completely different view than NY or even the Durham area.. I have zero use for Durham/and rest of the liberals hives.. Reminds me way too much of NY period..

First stress to Dam Yankees enjoy what you have if you dont like it move back to NY or any other shit hole you came from. I've very blunt about it.. I dont want or need another Il duchebag running NC..

Will it go more of the liberal way .. maybe maybe not. The key is you got to get inserted into the edu system. That is the biggest mistake the converstives made was to hand over the edu system to the liberals.. They are brain washing people into there method.. Hard to change that view when they are 18 unless most go into militray and than they seem to get it more or most of the time..

My youngest son was prime example of that.. Wanted nothing t do shooting prior to mil now hes like you can own class 3 stuff and stand cap mags.. I told him yep.. He wasnt down in nc more than 8 hours and stated when hes done his deployement hes moving down.. Converted him to a converstive in just three years of service.

Just like our full boat Republican legislature that has shut down the constitutional carry bill not once but TWICE. These bills would have done away with the bull shit pistol purchase permit program as well.

Yet people still vote for the statist

Believe me, I'm not saying that the Republicans have done an outstanding job.

I'm saying the state is trending blue.  You can say what you want, but that's a fact.

I do believe Donnie Harrison did campaign.  He had a TV commercial with him standing in front of a patrol car.

I believe the Guildford County sheriff was unseated also.

Now, I didn't say that some of the folks that moved here from the west coast or northeast were not pro gun or not conservative.

The MAJORITY of the folks moving here from those areas are liberal leaning.

It is sad, because as a law enforcement officer in the Triangle area, I see a lot of anti gun sentiment in our ranks.

Yes NC is going blue.

Mecklenburg is lost.

What surprises me is the number of Democrats running unopposed.

Sad and stupid.

Yup Danny Rogers is not well thought of in LEO circles at all. BJ Barnes learned the hard way you need to campaign even when your opponent is sketchy and you've been Sheriff forever.

It would be nice if we could get a sheriff that wouldn’t cooperate with feds enforcing unconstitutional laws period.
