As indicated by the prior poster the buyer is supposed to have one of the relevant CT issues permits or certificates for
purchasing ammunition when buying it
within the state of Connecticut. What some sellers and, many etailers, from other states do is ask for a photo copy (or digital copy) of the person's permit or certificate to cover themselves.
If you desire you can read this state's statute on the sale of ammunition (and magazines).
Sec. 29-38m. Sale of ammunition or ammunition magazine. For instate ammunition sales these are the relevant CT permits/certificates that one would need if a person isn't exempted by the above statute:
- a valid permit to carry a pistol or revolver
- a valid permit to sell at retail a pistol or revolver
- a valid eligibility certificate for a pistol or revolver
- a valid long gun eligibility certificate
- a valid ammunition certificate along with the person's motor vehicle operator's license, passport or other valid form of identification issued by the federal government or a state or municipal government that contains such person's date of birth and photograph.
