He was against an AWB before he was for one.


Did he go out of his way to ruin his legacy?  

Or was he always a "Virginia McCain?"

Warner got name recognition from marrying Elizabeth Taylor.  Before that he married into money (Melon).

Don't think he ever was a conservative.  Had a rep as being the stupidest Senator.

Like McCain he liked to garner good press by screwing over conservatives.

Rumors I heard was stupid as a result of drunk, but who the heck knows?

He was reliable to GOP leadership to push whatever line they wanted at the time.  End of the day, I'm not sure what principles of his own he actually held.
