Should have been gone long ago IMHO. There hasn’t been excess in there really for quite some time.
But too many idiots vote based off it so it’s still around. |

Im just glad to be moving home and have no sales tax, no income tax and minimal state fees to enjoy the land. I didn't realize how much I took Alaska for granted till I moved away. |

I'm fine with ditching the PFD IF state lands are sold to the private sector with mineral rights AND federal lands that should have been transferred to the State already actually are.

It shocked me to hear of that huge sense of entitlement to the PFD, all of it - I mean lump sum zeroing out the program. But then, I am making more money in a no tax state than I was back home. On top of limited opportunity in my field, the federal government won't be any help for the next 4 years. |

It is already half gone and when they pass a state income tax or sales tax, there goes the other half.

It needed to go away a long time ago.

My dad always called it the Temporary Fund. But man, it lasted 40 years before the politicians plundered it.

Problem is no one will commit political suicide because we have too many career politicians who become consultants and cycle around from state house to state senate (Halcro, Stevens, Croft, McKinnon/Fairclough) just to name a few) I would be curious how many people would leave and I don't think the number would be as high as everyone thinks, the no income tax and no state sales tax keeps more people here than the PFD.
